Mr Blocks reading was outstanding. Sat in my car for 20 minutes in the garage just to finish a chapter.

A Waste of 18 hours build up
Revisado: 09-13-16
Would you try another book from C.W. Lemoine and/or Thomas Block?
The narration was excellent. But I hate investing all those hours just to be left hanging with no conclusion.
What could C.W. Lemoine have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Devote more time to developing an appropriate conclusion.
Which character – as performed by Thomas Block – was your favorite?
Cal Martin
Any additional comments?
Shorten the descriptions of the weaponry. Too many initials and fluff that distracts from the action.

Historia
Thomas Block has created Captain - his most ambitious, intricate, and action-packed aviation tale yet. It is a chilling and all too real story about a routine Trans-Atlantic airline flight that suddenly turns absolutely insane. In the doomed airliner's cockpit, inside the passenger cabin, and on the ground, a complex array of characters have been propelled at jet speed into a sudden and frantic race for survival.

An Audible A+ Listening Experience Thrilling!
Revisado: 10-15-13
What did you love best about Captain?
I got so involved in the story, I was startled by the knocking on my passenger side window as I sat in my car, in the garage, the engine off, in the dark, listening to Captain. I was mesmerized by the need to find out what was going to happen in the gripping drama unfolding to the characters I had come to know in the course of the story. The knocking on the window, was my wife. She said I had been in the garage for over 10 minutes and she thought there might be something wrong.
What did you like best about this story?
I think Mr. Block's reading of his own words, significantly enhanced the character development. He has a very pleasing vocal quality and I enjoyed how fluidly he moved from one character to the next.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the words of Lee Frankel (the shrink) were able to calm a passenger uprising, stimulated by Peter Fenton, the 1st Officer.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was moved by the prologue and the ending.
Any additional comments?
Captain, could only be written by someone with years of experience as an airline Captain. The masterful blending of Mr. Blocks story telling ability and his wealth of flying experience combine to produce and Audible A+ audio book!

You will find yourself making time to listen..
Revisado: 08-12-13
What made the experience of listening to Open Skies the most enjoyable?
Mr. Block's story telling excellence, is able to create, circumstance after circumstance that challenges the listeners minds to try and imagine what might be coming next. As each chapter unfolds, it acts as an appetizer, whetting the appetite to move forward to race to the next chapter.
I listened in the car on the way home from work. One night I arrived home, and I was fully engrossed in the excitement of the story. Then there came a knock on the driver's side window. It was my wife who came to check on my health, as I been sitting there for approximately 15 minutes and just couldn't tear myself away until the chapter break.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Like premier story tellers, Mr. Block is able to weave a story that at the end of a chapter, leaves you in anxious anticipation. Obviously his experience as an Airline Captain, adds credibility to the plot as it unfolds.
Towards the latter part of the book, you find yourself wanting to move quickly to find out what is going to happen. On the other hand, as you sense the end is nearing, there is the recognition that you really don't want to say goodbye to all the characters you now have come to know and appreciate.
Which character – as performed by Thomas Block – was your favorite?
I think Elmer was my favorite. The vocal signature of Elmer is very distinctive and seems to fit ideally with my idea of how he might look, how he might dress and certainly the bluster and vocabulary he would use. I also liked Izzie, Max and the way Mr. Block read Susan and Tracy's dialog as well, but Elmer is my favorite.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I liked the closing crescendo in the cockpit of the 737.
Any additional comments?
I prefer books that are narrated by the authors. Mr. Block's Open Skies is a winner!
