Historia
Here are some of the finest fairytales from around the world - most of them old favorites: "Sleeping Beauty," "Rumpelstiltskin," "Cinderella," three from "The Arabian Nights," and many more. Andrew Lang was one of the most famous literary critics around 1900. He also edited a series of children's fable books that preserved and illustrated a host of tales which are still used extensively today.

Nostalgia made new
Revisado: 07-25-15
I had forgotten how good these stories were. Although they're full of testosterone and not the Disney versions, they make great listening. These are the myths and legends of society. Angele Masters does a great Gaelic accent, and is at her best when voicing old women and heroes.

Historia
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Fitting sweeping performance of an epic finale
Revisado: 07-16-15
Game of Thrones vs. Wheel of Time. Body count is heavy on both sides. Heroes and magic are abundant. But the struggle is for existence itself in WOT. Kate Reading and Michael Bell have to play out the whole panoply of life, death, love, hate, sa'angreal, a'dam, Seanchan and Sharran, Andor and Aiel, and Rand and Co. Michael Bell makes the lords and other men sound similar but different, while Kate Reading has a way of making most women sound as imperious as the men think they are. My favorites of the voice impressions are: Elayne, Min, Perrin, Mat, the Dark One, Thom Merrilin, Loial, Graendal, Olver, Tuon.

Timely and socially relevant as well as a compelling story
Revisado: 07-01-15
I got the Kindle version but rarely read it after buying the Audible narration. The narrator is gifted, even at Kathy's and Colleen's voices. Kathy, Colleen, DW, John,Jakarta, and Mike Vincent are compelling characters, but the narrator makes them sing.

When 12-year-old Freeman Mills arrives at Wendover, a group home for troubled children, it's a chance for a fresh start. But second chances aren't easy for Freeman, the victim of painful childhood experiments that gave him the ability to read other people's minds. Little does Freeman know that his transfer was made at the request of Dr. Richard Kracowski, whose research into the brain's electrical properties is revealing new powers of the human mind.

Creepy paranormal horror thriller
Revisado: 05-27-15
At first I thought that Daniel Dorse's voice was too casual and world weary for the material, but it's perfect. Especially when he voices other characters. The world weariness and cynicism fit Wendover, and the unlikely hero of the tale, Freeman Mills, who is like Rick in Casablanca, if Rick in Casablanca were trapped in a home for troubled kids and a spiritual battle between good and evil.

Historia
In the title novella, a third-rate American playwright named Landau attends a literary conference in Prague, where an organized group excursion to a former concentration camp degenerates into a battle of wills and an exercise in egomania and public humiliation. Nina, the heroine of the second novella, "Three Pigs in Five Days," is sent to Paris to write an article for her lover's travel journal - a dizzying, erotic pilgrimage that forces her to see how sex has distorted her view of the world.

Prefer Nina to Landau and either to Jiri and Leo
Revisado: 05-03-15
For me, the narrator has the right wry ironic dry tone, but he seems to sympathize more with Nina than Landau. My favorite moment: a Frenchwoman who sounds more like Dr Ruth Westheimer!!

Following his blockbuster biography of Steve Jobs, The Innovators is Walter Isaacson’s revealing story of the people who created the computer and the Internet. It is destined to be the standard history of the digital revolution and an indispensable guide to how innovation really happens. What were the talents that allowed certain inventors and entrepreneurs to turn their visionary ideas into disruptive realities? What led to their creative leaps? Why did some succeed and others fail?

Revisado: 04-28-15
Dennis Boutsikaris is magnificently collegial. The entire performance is riveting. The story is undeniably compelling. My favorite moment is reciting Ada Lovelace's correspondence. Runner up: the moments with Eckert and Mauchly. Also: blogs.

Historia
Oscar Wilde brings his enormous gifts for astute social observation and sparkling prose to The Picture of Dorian Gray, the dreamlike story of a young man who sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty. This dandy, who remains forever unchanged---petulant, hedonistic, vain, and amoral---while a painting of him ages and grows increasingly hideous with the years, has been horrifying and enchanting readers for more than 100 years.

Brilliant Portrait of sin and Art

Simon Prebble is the perfect narrator. He does fine with the voices, but it is his wry smiling cheekiness even in the most grotesque moment that embodies the spirit of Wilde.

Revisado: 04-12-15
Kate Winslet is at her best when relating the bourgeois Thursday night gatherings at the Raquins. The voices are perfect. I'm not compelled to care for anyone except Madame Raquin and sometimes Thérèse but it is a portrait of vice and Justice.
