According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, one in nine Americans works in sales. Every day more than 15 million people earn their keep by persuading someone else to make a purchase. But dig deeper and a startling truth emerges: Yes, one in nine Americans works in sales. But so do the other eight. Whether we’re employees pitching colleagues on a new idea, entrepreneurs enticing funders to invest, or parents and teachers cajoling children to study, we spend our days trying to move others.

Loved some of the examples that I never heard of before.
I found other parts less valuable simply because several other books have already covered them. Not a bad read overall though!

Historia
Emotions are inseparable from how we humans think, choose, and act. In Emotional Design, cognitive scientist Don Norman shows how the principles of human psychology apply to the invention and design of new technologies and products. In The Design of Everyday Things, Norman made the definitive case for human-centered design, showing that good design demanded that the user's must take precedence over a designer's aesthetic if anything, from light switches to airplanes, was going to work as the user needed.

Revisado: 11-17-24
Although I don’t agree with and wouldn’t endorse everything Elon Musk does or has done, this book giving me more data and facts about SpaceX is very legit.
I like to do my own research and cross check accounts to etc., this book is truly a master piece!

Serving as a powerful follow-up to Jordan Peterson’s book 12 Rules for Life, Dr. Gad Saad unpacks what is really happening in progressive safe zones, why we need to be paying more attention to these trends, and what we must do to stop the spread of dangerous thinking. A professor at Concordia University who has witnessed this troubling epidemic firsthand, Dr. Saad dissects a multitude of these concerning forces (corrupt thought patterns, belief systems, attitudes, etc.) that have given rise to a stifling political correctness in our society.

A truly great book!
Revisado: 10-18-24
I love to hear viewpoints of both sides in a debate. In today’s world I find it harder and harder to get my hands on a book similar to this one.
You don’t need to agree with it 100%, I don’t. There is however a great number of points brought up by the author that should at least make you question and truly ponder many thoughts you hear in main stream media so much today.

Historia
Marx and Engels were right when they observed in the Communist Manifesto that free markets had in a short time created greater prosperity and more technological innovation than all previous generations combined. A century and a half later, all the evidence shows that capitalism has lifted millions and millions from hunger and poverty. Today's story about global capitalism, shared by right-wing and left-wing populists, but also by large sections of the political and economic establishment, does not deny that prosperity has been created, but it says it ended up in far too few hands.

Rarely do I find an utterly 5 star read
Revisado: 10-10-24
The funny thing is that I grew up with and believed in opposite view. Started under socialism and communism. Then saw with my own eyes the shortcomings. Began traveling and lived in a dozen different countries observing everything from their political and tax systems, economic policies and more.
At the end I concluded that rather than the theory and ideology we must look at results and lack thereof.
The book points out even more examples, factors and aspects that should be taken into account than I found empirically.
It’s a great read and will leave you with plenty to ponder about!

The data itself is good, helpful.
The choice of words and way of explaining things shows outdated style. That in turn hinders easy understanding.

Eye opening
Revisado: 08-22-24
Having gotten involved with selling on Amazon over the years I have observed a lot of concerning manifestations but could never be certain if my suspicions were correct.
This book has reaffirmed those notions and backed them with facts including discussing the relevant congressional hearings.
Very good lessons to anyone dealing with Amazon from any angle!

Historia
In Alexander the Great, Anthony Everitt judges Alexander’s life against the criteria of his own age and considers all his contradictions. We meet the Macedonian prince who was naturally inquisitive and fascinated by science and exploration, as well as the man who enjoyed the arts and used Homer’s great epic, the Iliad, as a bible. As his empire grew, Alexander exhibited respect for the traditions of his new subjects and careful judgment in administering rule over his vast territory. But his career also had a dark side.

The story of an extraordinary life
Revisado: 08-12-24
My main focus is on books i can learn something from on a practical sense for the day to day life. Normally a biography for me is something to enjoy without having to focus on it that much. In this one I however found quite a few lessons one can learn about intentions and motives of others for example. It was overall a great book!

Used to be in MLM and know for a fact that a lot of her suggestions do work.
The rest I guess I would try if I ever went back into that field.
Otherwise I found it to be a useful book for anyone interested to learn something more about business. For example building their own side hustle even if that’s not MLM like in my case.

Historia
Twenty-five years ago, I set off on my own with nothing but a folding table and a phone. For years, real success eluded me. I told people I was doing well when I was often on the edge of being broke. Millions of people face the same plight - including my beloved brother-in-law, who died tragically before he could fix his money problems. That was my wake-up call. I knew I needed more money, but I didn't know how to get it. I only turned things around by getting honest with myself, taking responsibility, and figuring out some practical solutions. I'm going to show you how to do the same.

Surprisingly good!
Revisado: 04-12-24
Didn’t expect too much based on the title, LOL. The author does manage to get the point across however in a simple language and through down to Earth examples/stories.
It wasn’t hard for me to start agreeing with him right from the start then tried to challenge the concept as I continued with the book and ended up agreeing again.
No matter how I look at it, even if I make enough for the family, I’m actually not being responsible if I don’t figure out ways to make more. It’s not just about me and my family but friends and broader family, nonprofit causes etc. His example of his brother in law will open your eyes.
