Historia
A tall ship is trapped on a sandbar in 1885, broadsided by heavy seas and doomed to destruction on a lonely Brazilian Beach. Thus begins an incredible sea odyssey by a North American sea captain, his wife, and two sons. To return his family to safety, Captain Joshua Slocum builds a new boat out of the wreckage of the old. With his family, he sails along the perilous South American coast, crosses the Caribbean Sea, and navigates up the United States coast to Washington, D.C.

The true seafaring adventure that indirectly spawns Spray
Revisado: 06-03-24
Andre Stojka desperately needs to work on his pacing. Also, his voice sounds like he’s trying to imitate an old man. Captain Slocum was only in is forties at the time. The music that runs for each new chapter is too prolonged and distracting.
Despite the aforementioned issues, make sure that you stick with the book. The story gets more interesting as it progresses. You will learn about what events indirectly led to Slocum’s eventual pursuit of being the first person to singlehandedly sail around the planet and then write a book about it. That later book is also written by Slocum and is the masterpiece that made him most famous.
Lastly, Slocum never got over the despair that gripped him after his first wife died at a young age. His second wife joined him on the Liberdade adventure. Such were the harrowing events they faced, she vowed to never leave land again. Slocum was undeterred as more sea adventures awaited him.
