Unique ending to s classic story.
Revisado: 10-11-24
The story is a classic female warrior in a man's world, but there are constant twists and turns that keep it engaging. The characters are well written and the world well thought out.

Historia
Esme is born into a world of words. Motherless and irrepressibly curious, she spends her childhood in the Scriptorium, an Oxford garden shed in which her father and a team of dedicated lexicographers are collecting words for the very first Oxford English Dictionary. Young Esme’s place is beneath the sorting table, unseen and unheard. One day a slip of paper containing the word bondmaid flutters beneath the table. She rescues the slip and, learning that the word means “slave girl,” begins to collect other words discarded or neglected by the dictionary men.

Slow but fascinating
Revisado: 07-12-24
At first I thought it would just be another tale of a daughter following her father's footsteps into a field that was traditionally male. I was pleasantly surprised to find the main character had a life and depth far surpassing the expected. We'll worth the read.

The story of Circe was new to me. It was a wonderfully spun story. The reader read the book in a believable manner.

So moving
Revisado: 04-05-24
The range of emotions this book allowed me to feel was undeliverable. The Women also served as a conversation starter between my Father, a Vietnam Veteran, and myself. He was in Vietnam during the 2 years the fictional character was, he talked about being spit on when he came home, about a soldier whose throat was cut while on leave in Japan, and how heavy the bullets he lifted on the ships were.
