Historia
Dave Marwood is trapped in a soul-crushing dead-end job. He's in love with his work colleague Melanie and his only friend Gary is a conspiracy theory nut. His life is going nowhere until he has a Near Death Experience—though Death thinks of it as a Near Dave Experience. He discovers gifts he never knew he possessed and a world he never dreamed existed. A world where the Grim Reaper is a hard-drinking, grumpy Billy Joel fan and the undead are bored, lonely, and dangerous.

Fun, different, & quick
Revisado: 02-22-25
Just a fun take focusing mainly on Dave. He can see dead people. Death, of the 4 horse of the Apocalypse fame, hires him to help the ghosts that are still here. Nice light fun and quick read.

Historia
Littleport, Maine, has always felt like two separate towns: an ideal vacation enclave for the wealthy, whose summer homes line the coastline, and a simple harbor community for the year-round residents whose livelihoods rely on service to the visitors. Typically, fierce friendships never develop between a local and a summer girl - but that’s just what happens with visitor Avery Greer and Littleport resident Sadie Loman. Each summer for almost a decade, the girls are inseparable - until Sadie is found dead.

ok, some +, would skip this one is my advice
Revisado: 02-22-25
Very slow start. I had to restart it 4 times (Audible). It was so hard to focus and get interested. The Vacancy in Room 10 i just finished was shockingly better read. This book also left so many open questions and things were confusing. On the plus side it finally picked up. Left you guessing about the culprit but if you stop and seriously think on it, you can figure most if not all the points. I just read, but was sure that we kept hearing about Parker's scar that it was a hint. I'm just personally busy with other things so didn't try to put the puzzle together. But the pieces are there, except I think I could have made the common assumption too about the culprit. Overall ok. Not a fan of this book. I'm sure the author has better books. This one though was a bit meh.

very interesting
Revisado: 12-30-24
Lots of interesting information. Hard to grasp the years and scope of the timeline; at least via Audible. But still learned a lot. How they conclude many of the answers and learning more as technology improves is also fascinating.

Historia
There’s been a breakthrough on the campus of Caltech. A discovery. An invention. One so startling and surprisingly sinister that the inventor can’t tell a soul. Precariously poised at the center of the action is Victoria Pixler, a bioengineering student with a tragic past, a passionate quest, and a brilliant mind. After a decade of dedication, she’s just completed her life’s work only to have her dream shattered and her career terminated - by the least likely suspect.

paranoia unlocked further
Revisado: 12-01-24
While the idea sounds fun. yes the repercussions especially by immoral individuals can be catastrophic. Very thought provoking ideas within the story. I never actually chose this that I can remember in the what super powers do you want polls. This just further unlocks my paranoia over not wanting others to know my thoughts. even though none of them are evil or bad. Just private. I really do believe I have nothing to hide really so someone knowing all isn't going to damage my life. but still how uncomfortable. Great book.

Who am I? I've forgotten the answer to that question long ago. Ever since I ran from that house, so desperate to escape, I left with only the clothes on my back and socks on my feet. After that day, I've only ever walked in stolen shoes.

Giving a 4 since I finished it.
Revisado: 11-25-24
waffling between 3 and 4. Went with 4 because it kept me reading until the end to find out what happens to everyone. Intriguing, but very creepy in a that's not good way. Enzo crossed too many lines for being a protagonist. Based on Sawyer's specific drama and back story. happy she got a version of Happy ever after. Enzo too in a way got that. And our bad guy was super creepy too. And glad he got the ending he deserved too. Read for book club. oh and too much slut for me. thankfully with Audible I can increase speed for those parts.

strong 5 star!!!
Revisado: 11-25-24
Well done. Hard to put down. I'm not a huge fan of murder mystery psychological thrillers. So, the fact that I couldn't focus on real world life shoshows this was well written. 5+ stars. Will have to check out the next two in the series.

Short, free, and not worth the time.
Revisado: 11-24-24
included with Audible. so free and a short tale. meh. The music was cheesy and obnoxious. Not sure if the multiple actors hurt or helped. The music got in the way. More production vs book. Going into it like a play vs a book mindset will help. The story wasn't great. Personally wasn't worth the time, even with increased listening speed.

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

The author still keeps the story refreshingly new. And done well that I didn't want to stop. Ray Porter is excellent as always with narration. Other books outside the Bobiverse are great when he reads, but in my head he's always Bob. LOL. Highly recommend this series!

Historia
When Margaret and her husband Hal bought the large Victorian house on Hawthorn Street—for sale at a surprisingly reasonable price—they couldn’t believe they finally had a home of their own. Then they discovered the hauntings. Every September, the walls drip blood. The ghosts of former inhabitants appear, and all of them are terrified of something that lurks in the basement. Most people would flee. Margaret is not most people. Margaret is staying.

Definitely enjoyed. Did well on making you wonder if the ghosts were real or is she nuts. I was voting for the ghosts and house. Despite the evil guy. I recommend reading and finding out.

Enjoyed. kept my interest.
Revisado: 11-23-24
This kept me interested. Did enjoyed it. The mystery of the fiancée definitely was a nice bonus to keep you wondering. The final ending didn't feel like it had much pizzazz. But was a good ending. And gave me a feeling of what is good vs evil. As in was the evil character as described really evil?
