And this podcast absolutely captures the spirit of it! Good stories. I hope these stories can help bring justice where justice is due.

Historia
Something dark and evil has awakened.... Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City - and she is pos-i-tute-ly ecstatic. It's 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegfeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult. Evie worries her uncle will discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far.

Good, but plot meanders
Revisado: 05-22-17
It's good, but it's a bit unfocused. I feel like half of the story could have been taken out and placed in a sequel, because almost none of the setups actually pay off. Memphis's story is a big one-- I couldn't wait for him to team up with Evie and they go on a grand adventure together-- the healer and the object reader. Along with the other kids with powers. A team-up of people with supernatural powers, perhaps like the Avengers. How fun is that?
But no. Their paths almost never cross, and Memphis has almost zero to do with the main story, despite taking up a good 40% of the book. Sam has almost nothing to do with the main story. Mabel is utterly WASTED.
If you hate stories that conclude with obvious sequel-bait, then avoid this. This book was written with the expectation that you must read the rest of the series.
Also, if you hate long diversions from the main plot, this book is also not for you.
However, there is lots of good in this, too. The actual main story is really great. I love the main characters, too.I just wish there weren't so many diversions.
