Historia
I am forced into speech because men of science have refused to follow my advice without knowing why. It is altogether against my will that I tell my reasons for opposing this contemplated invasion of the Antarctic - with its vast fossil-hunt and its wholesale boring and melting of the ancient ice-cap - and I am the more reluctant because my warning may be in vain. Doubt of the real facts, as I must reveal them, is inevitable; yet if I suppressed what will seem extravagant and incredible there would be nothing left.

It was a fun ride of imagination that feels so real. H P definitely has a different mind than the norm.

Historia
Many know the tragic story of Anne Frank, the teen whose life ended at Auschwitz during the Holocaust. But most people don’t know about Eva Schloss, Anne’s playmate and stepsister. Though Eva, like Anne, was taken to Auschwitz at the age of 15, her story did not end there. This incredible memoir recounts - without bitterness or hatred - the horrors of war, the love between mother and daughter, and the strength and determination that helped a family overcome danger and tragedy.

Humanity's inhumanity
Revisado: 04-27-20
I had to listen to this chapter by chapter because I couldn't go through more than one chapter without being broken hearted. I had to stop and absorb the awfulness of what I was hearing. I don't want to believe that people have that capacity for hated. Unfortunately we do. Only by being confronted with the evil in the world can we understand that it does exist in nearly equal measures with the capacity to love and endure. Maybe love will win in the end, but it's really not a certainty. We still have a lot to learn.

It was a book that I was comfortable listening to at 2.5 speed. In other words, I found it to be an interesting story but not very good literature.

Historia
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

Beautifully crafted novel.
Revisado: 05-11-18
This wonderfully written story focuses upon people who are on the periphery of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ during the time of his first visit among us. Quite a lot of insight really makes the time in history easy to visualize for the reader. Todd McLaren's narration is expressive and alive, you can hear his love for the lyrical and rhythmic way that the novelist writes. Much more emotion than other narrations I've heard from this novel. I usually listen to a book at 1.5 or 2 x faster to get through it quickly. Not this one! I actually savoured the poetry of the story because of the narration. Thank you, Mr. McLaren, you performed perfectly one of the greatest novels ever written!

When a catastrophic solar storm brings about the collapse of modern civilization, an Amish community in Pennsylvania is caught up in the devastating aftermath. Once-bright skies are now dark. Planes have plummeted to the ground. The systems of modern life have crumbled. With their stocked larders and stores of supplies, the Amish are unaffected at first. But as the English (the Amish name for all non-Amish people) become more and more desperate, they begin to invade Amish farms.

Excellent writing and believable story. Perfect narration!
Revisado: 09-07-17
I was very interested in finding out how the nonviolent would respond to violence. I'm the hands of a lesser author, this could have been a typical shoot-em-up. Good guy destroys bad guy. Or vice versa. It wasn't your tweenagers post apocalyptic novel.
I usually listen to books at 2x speed, the speed at which I read. I listened to this narration in normal speed, enjoying the nuances of the accent. All the character voices were done beautifully.

Fun read, memories of my daughter and her experiences with skating
Revisado: 09-01-17
As an adult and father of a little girl who loved skating, I very much enjoyed the parts of the story that were about the actual skating. The two tangents that filled out the story were enjoyable as I remember scenarios that would attempt to come between her and her skating. Tweens would really appreciate this story. I'm glad no sex took place.

I was given this audiobook for free the agreement I would leave an honest review. I think it was because of the narration that I enjoyed this book so much. The story though over silly worked because the narrator was able to take it and make it A bit classier than it would've been if I had read the printed version

The great study on people whose lives have been torn up if not broken completely. The narrator's performance was perfect for the book. Cautionary tale that is turning out to be only too true
Revisado: 07-01-17
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say that I enjoyed this story even as it makes me more nervous about what's going on in our political scene today. I enjoyed the narration, and story though the ending does need some work but in general I think that most people would enjoy this as a snarky tale about what should not be happening and what is turning out to be too real
