Very poor narration. Turned what might have been a very good book into a total bust.

Willie needs to stick to singing. The story was good in good old LL style, but, Willie doesn't do it justice. I felt like Willie was just reading a story. There was absolutely no emotion in his reading. Listening to Willie read was very painful. Good stories, but terrible performance. I feel like Willie owes Louis an apology. Next time please don't use Willie. Let's free Willie.

Excellent book. I wish this book were required reading in our education system. I've never heared more truth within such a small space outside of the Good Book.

Historical Revisionism

I was very disappointed with this account of Robert E Lee. It appeared that the author used this platform to denigrate what the South and Robert E Lee stood for. To make the claim that the War was all about the South's desire to keep the black man in shackles and the North's desire to free the slave is clearly a misinterpretation of history. If the War were about the emancipation of the slave, why did Lincoln relieve General Fremont for emancipating the slaves in Missouri during the first year of the War? Why did it take two years after the War started for Lincoln to deliver his Emancipation Proclamation? The Emancipation Proclaimation was a Northern attempt to thwart the South's ability to wage war. It only announced freedom for those slaves who resided in areas which were in a state of rebellion. It did not free those slaves who lived in areas allied with the North, like Delaware.

The War was about independence. The South fought for her independence just as colonial America fought for hers when she rebelled against England. Had England won that conflict, I dare say we would be reading about how George Washington rebeled against his country, England. George Washington's country during America's war for independance was not England but America. Likewise, Robeert E Lee did not rebel against his country. Robert E Lee's country during the South's war for independance was not the United States of America but Virginia, who had allied herself with the Confederate States of America.

This book follows a persistent thread of propaganda that began in the North during and after the Civil War and continues into our present day to demonize the South and to destort the history of our beloved South.
