Historia
Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Bob Woodward tells the revelatory, behind-the-scenes story of three wars—Ukraine, the Middle East and the struggle for the American Presidency. War provides an unvarnished examination of the vice president as she tries to embrace the Biden legacy and policies while beginning to chart a path of her own as a presidential candidate.

In the room where it happens
Revisado: 10-29-24
Woodruff is amazing his access and ability to string it all together in a discernible narrative is such a gift to students of American history, especially when that history is still very much in the present tense. Wow! If every American voter would take the time to read this book I’d feel so much better about the choice they will make on Nov 5. At least it will be an informed choice. Informed by fact, truth and I hope reason.

Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Could have been so much better
Revisado: 07-08-24
This story had potential but kept getting sidetracked with silly interpersonal squabbles that were shallow and cartoonish. The narrator was way over the top and got in the way of the story telling constantly adding drama with his performance that was not needed.

Historia
The Martian meets Gravity when Army Pilot Vaughn Singleton, Earth’s last man, rushes to Area 51 in search of a spaceplane after he discovers the last woman is stranded on the International Space Station and barely alive - thus beginning a race against time. The event that wiped life from the planet started at the supercollider. It created a rift in space-time. The astronaut stranded aboard the space station, Commander Angela Brown, is a theoretical physicist who used to work at the collider.

Not quite the Martian
Revisado: 06-15-24
It was an entertaining listening experience but the science was thin and the suspense seemed pretty obvious. I might do book 2 if it’s on sale but this story could have been so much more. Way too much time spent on a helicopter flight through the snow and not enough time on space travel in what sounds like a high tech golf cart.

Historia
Billy Todd has always been different. Most people called him odd, and those were the nice people. Though he was born with a learning disability, Billy's parents never allowed him to consider himself disabled. Raised to be self-sufficient, Billy might not be as smart as some, but he was a lot smarter than people realized.

Nice surprise
Revisado: 03-13-24
Great story. I liked the detail about planning and thinking of possible problems and solutions. I appreciate that it wasn’t too gory or graphic. Just enough to let you know it wasn’t normal times but not so much that it over shadowed the goodness and humanity in the story.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Didn’t want it to end
Revisado: 10-13-21
Loved this book and having as an audio book was exceptional. Great story, couldn’t stop listening. So engaging I started to use some of the speech patterns when talking to my wife and kids. That was really annoying apparently till my oldest son read it and now we kinda share a language (well not a language but some idiom). That’s how engaging and engrossing it was. WOW

Historia
More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

Pretty good but predicable.
Revisado: 12-31-18
Enjoyable story, I liked then main characters. Story was predictable and the harrowing experiences were at times heart thumping but at others formulaic for lack of anything better to read/listen too. I’ll stick with it. .

Fantastic. So enjoyable
Revisado: 08-01-17
As others have said this is a 'best of the genre' book. The characters are rich, the story multifaceted, the scope broad and also deep. I too appreciated as others have noted that it never devolves in a zombie apocalypse or people eating each other. It's just a story of good but imperfect people surviving the end of the world as we know it. It's s great story and I hope there is a second book in the works.

Enough already
Revisado: 07-09-17
I had Highhope's for this book it was well recommended and I enjoy the genre but the authors attention to detail and more detail was painfully slow and unnecessary. He skips over critical historical events like the ending of the war in Japan and spends too much time on irrelevant relational discussion I go nowhere and add nothing.
