Historia
Witty and entertaining, the Montalbano novels by Andrea Camilleri—a master of the Italian detective story—have become favorites of mystery fans everywhere. In this latest installment, an unidentified corpse is found near Vigàta, a town known for its soil rich with potter’s clay. Meanwhile, a woman reports the disappearance of her husband, a Colombian man with Sicilian origins who turns out to be related to a local mobster.

Not the inspector i've come to know
Revisado: 09-17-17
What would have made The Potter’s Field better?
Resume the sensible and intelligent decisions and actions of Montalbano. Eliminate such idiotic moves as trying to resolve an issue with Meme by spying instead of simply confronting, explaining the whole story of Lattes instead of simply saying " iwas trying to avoid the guy, not immediately connecting the first mates disappearance with the body discovered...even the slowest reader could discern a poor attempt to drag out a story with protracted tangents
Would you ever listen to anything by Andrea Camilleri again?
yes
What about Grover Gardner’s performance did you like?
He is excellent
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment

Any additional comments?
I just finished the last of the Bruno series. I have never before felt sad that a series was over...I did with this one. Unlike many detective / police novels I have read or listened to, the Bruno series dropped the typical attempt to keep one on the edge of his or her seat. Instead the author built a whole town and cast of characters each one playing some part (always differing and evolving) in an interesting but not spine-tingling mystery. I got to know each of the characters as complete beings, each with their own interesting and realistic back-story. I loved the well developed sense of place, the tangential day to day lives portrayed, and the detail the author put into Bruno's intriguing cooking. I could almost see and taste that part of Southern France that I never tire of visiting.

Where is the director?
Revisado: 10-05-16
The mispronunciation of so many people, places and organizations distracted me from an otherwise good story. Was no one with any knowledge of Israel listening as this was being recorded ? At least two dozen times I wanted to hunt down the one responsible and, Gabriel style "put him down!"

Not the movie

What did you love best about Little Big Man?
Though quite a lengthy recording, I was enthralled and engaged up to the very end. In fact, I was sorry to realize it was actually over...I wanted more. I was of course, expecting the plot to mirror the movie. There were several departures. And though I loved the movie, I wasn't the least dissapointed by the difference in plot points and tone.
The narration was very well done and the different voices added greatly to the overall enjoyability.

everything you wanted to know and more
Revisado: 08-14-14
What did you like best about The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich? What did you like least?
The thoroughness is most admirable. However the detail goes so deep as to border on the tedious. If the narrator would have used some peaks and valleys in his narrative...avoided a monotonic reading, I believe it would have negated the frequent urge to fast forward through portions. I was afraid I might lapse into a coma. The education it provided was however worth the effort.
Any additional comments?
I found it was best listening to this recording in half hour sessions. Anything longer was beyond my level of patience.
