Historia
Herc Beal knows who he's named after—a mythical hero—but he's no superhero. He's the smallest kid in his class. So when his homeroom teacher at his new middle school gives him the assignment of duplicating the mythical Hercules's amazing feats in real life, he's skeptical. After all, there are no Nemean Lions on Cape Cod—and not a single Hydra in sight.

The Labors of Hercules Beal was Wonderful
Revisado: 03-30-25
This novel of a coming of age theme of “life is hard” but “I am still here” was very well written and the audible reading and performance were enthralling and a real page turner. There was a deep look into the common experiences of lingering grief and loss and the grace of finding out that it can not be fixed but we can arrive at greatfulness that we are still here and somehow we can get through the fear of future loss and find joy in living in a place that can at times be the most amazing and beautiful place on the planet.

Historia
In the very near future, China, now the world’s largest industrial producer and consumer of Mideast Oil, passes a law that all new cars manufactured in that nation will be operated on natural gas. Beneath the floor of the South China Sea, around the contested Spratly Islands, billions of gallons of natural gas wait to be mined. But at the center of the Spratlys, the remote but strategic island of Itu Aba is occupied by China’s historic enemy, Taiwan.

Well written, keeping reader engaged. A bit wordy in setting the stage with details and history. Enjoyable read with realism in story line.

Historia
On May 1, 1915, with WWI entering its tenth month, a luxury ocean liner as richly appointed as an English country house sailed out of New York, bound for Liverpool, carrying a record number of children and infants. The passengers were surprisingly at ease, even though Germany had declared the seas around Britain to be a war zone. For months, German U-boats had brought terror to the North Atlantic.

The book is well written and superbly researched. It gives a clear view of the politics impacting the entrance of US into WW1.
