Historia
Before The Perfect Storm, before In the Heart of the Sea, Steven Callahan's Adrift chronicled one of the most astounding voyages of the century and one of the great sea adventures of all time. In some ways the model for the new wave of adventure books, Adrift is now an undeniable seafaring classic, a riveting firsthand account by the only man known to have survived for more than a month alone at sea, fighting for his life in an inflatable raft after his small sloop capsized.

Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

He does it again
Revisado: 09-17-19
Gladwell's does it again. He is able to translate complex, at times dense material, and make it not only interesting but entertaining. Not only that but you can tell that Mr. Gladwell's experience from his equally interesting podcast, has honed his skills as a broadcaster and he has been able to merge to two and hit a homerun on what I hope is the start of a trend for future audio books of all genres. Thank you!

Historia
Hired to search for a collection of paintings worth half a billion dollars, Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon soon find themselves in much deeper waters. Not only is the vicious leader of a Filipino insurgency using them to finance his attacks, but he has stumbled upon one of the most lethal secrets of World War II - a Japanese-developed drug, designed, but never used, to turn soldiers into superwarriors.

Revisado: 08-03-18
I tried and tried to stick with this story but just couldn't. I have enjoyed a few custler novels and have always enjoyed them as a fun, easy read. The story arcs of most of Custler's stories are pretty predictable. They read like your basic action movie heroes journey. You don't read these books to be surprised. You read them to join familiar characters as they navigate whatever curious mission Custler dreams up for them. This story however doesn't feel like it's tethered to reality like other Oregon File stories, albeit loosely tethered at times. It just feels farfetched and desperate to somehow increase the difficulty of the Oregon's opponents & step up the challenge of a crew who has a long history of overcoming the usual challenges any private mercenary navy has to face.

EXCEEDS MY HIGH EXPECTATIONS!!!
Revisado: 07-18-18
I am an avid listener of the Risk Podcast, which I love, and was excited to hear about the coming book. Yet, I was also very skeptical. I was afraid that the intamacy of these deeply personal stories would be lost without the the author themself sharing it. That is not the case!
Although there is something lost by not having the author tell their own stories the narrators do a fantastic job of delving into the emotional complexity of each individual's experience.
If you are new to RISK sit back and enjoy the ride. if you are already a follower of the podcast there are a ton of new stories, and even the stories I recognize from the podcast feel fresh and exciting and a joy to revisit!
congratulations RISK team! Thank you!

Be sold on selling
Revisado: 12-18-17
wow, my brain wanted to explode. author cetainly had that super pumped, excited sales men thing going, but all he does is sells you on selling. no techniques, no tools, no lessons just selling you on the idea that sales is apart of everyday life. then he repeats it to nauseam. we get it your excited about sales, i already bought the book i dont need to be sold on how important sales is. stop being the salesmen for a minute and be a teacher.
