I was appalled be the treatment of the prisoners in the camp. Man’s inhumanity to others. In another sense, I was astonished by the kindness and love the prisoners Had for each other. A story of hate and love in which love prevails. The change in voices was well done except for the women’s voices.

The women who served in Vietnam
Revisado: 05-29-24
I enjoyed the book very much, I was in high school and college during the war and remember the protests. I began to realize that the vets were not acknowledged when they returned home.so many alcoholics and drug abusers and suffering from PTSD and other illnesses. I did not know about the nurses in Nam. Although I love to watch MASH and knew there were women in Korea. I hcried throughout tha book any reasons. I’m happy women are being acknowledge today but we still have a long way to go.

This was a fascinating story. It speaks to resiliency of a young man who had an abusive life and how he rose above it. The love he had for his mother and abuelo and vice versa was his saving grace. I loved the narrator’s voice.

Missing children
Revisado: 03-20-23
The story moved slowly. I did not realize that children were being separated from families still. I was aware of the separation after WWII with Asian families and present day separation at our borders. The bias and racism that continues today is scary. I enjoyed the narration.
