This was a light shifter story with cute characters. I wasn't sure exactly why Dylan and Blake were undercover with this particular pack. Aside from that I enjoyed this. It's not something to be taken seriously and I found a lot of joy in this fluffy romance. 😊 3 stars. Recommend for those looking for a light, easy, and not to be taken seriously read.

The narration! STELLAR!!! AWESOME! I could listen to him forever! I need to find more by him. Highly recommend the narrator. He was able to put character in to the characters, vocal talent was great.

I am a fan of Isobel Starling and Gary Furlong. I wish I could say I enjoyed this story as much as others. For me the story was slow and I struggled to continue listening. Based on all the other reviews I think this is the case of me and not the book. I wasn't able to connect.

When I did find a rhythm at times, I could see the how the overall plot is a good one. That's why I selected this story. You can't love them all though, sigh. You know what the story is about from the blurb and for me to go into details about why this story didn't work for me would give away plot points. 2 stars

I originally thought the story pacing was too slow, that there wasn't enough action. The more I thought about I realized that the story progression was spot on. Sometimes too much it pushed into the beginning of a story to get the reader to understand the who, what, when, and that can be overwhelming. In this story I was able to breath and take in everything about these characters and what made them tick. I hope the next book (and the rest) give more action in defeating the "evil overlord."

My interest in this audio was because of the narrator. The book tags did not tell me their would be an MM romance to this; I thought I was just going to get an interesting dystopian story narrated by a great narrator. Imagine my surprise to learn that Aidan is transgender (born female) and that he and Kevin have a romance! Loved them together.

I do wish there was a prequel to give more back story as to how the world, or at least the US, came to be the way it is. We are 100+ years in the future and the government is no more. Aidan, Kevin the rest of the Wildcards are tasked to fix things.

I would love to continue with this series because I really want to know how things end, and I want to see more of the rest of the gang.

I am a huge fan of LC Davis and will always try one of their books. I also enjoy a good vampire story, toss in mpreg and i am IN. This story was about what i expected since it's short, which means it was well written with a good plot, but nothing deep or world changing. The relationship between the MCs starts off rough and i don't know exactly when it changed to real love and wanting to be together because they wanted to, but it was nice to see them together. The side characters seemed to be filler which eh, but they helped move the plot along.

Overall i enjoyed this and would recommend to those who aren't expecting anything new in vampire romance, and aren't afraid of mpreg.

The narration...wow. i very much enjoyed this narrator and will listen to him again. JJ got the emotions of the characters and when action was happening his voice showed the urgency or tension or passion. I definitely recommend this narrator.

This was an adorable story. The cover is very indicative of the type of story you will be getting. I thoroughly enjoyed these characters AND the narration. I HIGHLY recommend this narrator and will be looking at other stories he has done.

As for Healing Choice, Caleb and Tobias are fated mates, but live in different worlds. When Tobias is allowed to come in to our world, he is able to track down his mate, who happens to be a wolf shifter and uses his super smelling to ferret out cancer/illness in people. Caleb is sick though and is dying. After a day of cancer detection, Caleb collapses and Tobias is there to help him and his foster sister. Using his magic, Tobias calms the sister and makes her think soothing and good things about Tobias.

Because this is a fantasy story and fated mates with mpreg, I didn't take much of what was happening too seriously. This is a light story meant to bring a smile to your face, not induce deep thoughts or big mood swings.

The connection between Caleb and Tobias is sweet and is of course instant, but it still felt good to me. Tobias was given 30 days to find his mate and fall in love, and after that they would be given a choice - stay in our world or live in Tobias's. Since Caleb is sick, of course they chose not to stay in our world.

Seeing Tobias's world was cool. It did show that even in his world people can be poor and mistreated - which I wasn't expecting.

I'll let you figure out the rest of the story on your own. :) It does deal with mpreg and on page birth. Such a cute story I give it 3.5 stars. 5 stars for narration.

Review contains a lot of spoilers, and they are major. Continue reading at your own risk.

I am conflicted about this story. Overall I enjoyed it. There are parts though that are beyond ridiculous and dramatic. Lets start with the good/fun stuff first. :)

The meeting aka hot coffee meets strangers shirt. When Jules bumps in to Hunter and spills his coffee on him, in an effort to appease the (good looking) stranger he gives Hunter his favorite sweatshirt. Hunter is of course a jerk and Jules fears his sweatshirt is lost forever.

When Jules sees Hunter in school, wearing his sweatshirt like he owns it (the nerve!), Jules marches over and asks for his sweatshirt back. Of course Hunter says no, and a few other choice words besides, and Jules is left staring after him and wondering what he should do.

Their relationship gets off to a rocky start. Hunter is an out and proud bi-sexual, and has someone locking lips with him at every turn. For whatever reason, Jules - despite thinking Hunter is a jerk - can't stop thinking about him. He doesn't recognize his feelings for what they are until much later and after a few events take place.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story approaching the 50% mark. Seeing Hunter and Jules argue and tease each other, and at times touching each other for various reasons, I couldn't help but smile and think they were simply adorable. I don't want to spoil the story. I'll just reiterate that things happen between Jules and Hunter, between Jules and his girlfriend, and Jules and his friends that helps Jules see what his feelings for Hunter are all about.

Just as their relationship is taking off and they are really becoming a couple, dramaville arrives in the form of a spiteful, vindictive, teenage horror known as Valerie, Vanessa? Crap, Veronica? Ugh, okay, I am blanking on her name - lets just call her V. Anyway, V is NOT a nice person and outs Jules to his family. In essence doing a sort of reverse blackmail to keep Jules and Hunter apart. She is Jules's parents spy and will report any contact between Jules and Hunter to Jules's parents. See, V was with Hunter very briefly and when he stopped wanting to hang out with her and be with Jules, she couldn't handle it. In an effort to get Hunter back (which is a stupid way to go about it), she thinks forcing them apart and being mean will win Hunter over.

I couldn't stand this turn of events. The plot here didn't make sense; it was added for what felt like drama for dramas sake. As if being a teenager in high school isn't hard enough, lets add negligent parents and a real vindictive B to the mix, and toss in being gay and only just realizing it.

In the mix of all this drama, Jules learns <spoiler>that his father is cheating on his mother, but is too dense to know that's what it means. One night (before dramaville arrived) Hunter and Jules are hiding in an empty movie theater room and resting, literally, when who should walk in but Jules's father and two women and another man. Jules is so worried about being seen that he completely misses the fact that his father is out on the town without his mother, and another woman, when he should be working (that's what he said he was doing). And then later, when Jules finally figures out what his dad is really up to, instead of using that information to allow him to see Hunter again (after being forced apart because of V), as in blackmailing his father, Jules shows his evidence to his father AND mother, and says she has to decide what she is going to do. REALLY? Jules's mother is a doormat- extremely wishy washy and unable to stand up for herself.</spoiler>

To back up a little, V, once again in an effort to get Hunter to want her, <spoiler>says she is pregnant with Hunter's baby. He doesn't understand how it could have happened because he used a condom each time. Anyway, I don't know what sort of crazy Hunter was thinking of doing, but he should have seriously questioned the possibility the baby was his. Hunter knows this chick is seriously crazy and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep Hunter and Jules apart. So why is he willing to believe anything she tells him? V is an over the top character who wasn't needed for this story to work. Again, drama for dramas sake - one of my biggest pet peeves. We later learn (duh!) the baby isn't Hunter's.</spoiler>

There is more drama to this story, but I don't feel like going in to all of it. The good news is these two finally get their heads on straight and manage to be together. Despite all their troubles in getting together, they are finally a couple living together with no more barriers between them. It's not clear what happens to V, she just disappears. We do know what happens with Jules's parents (broadly) and it's good.

I did leave out a very large detail of this story and I debated mentioning it, but I decided to after all because it is a possible trigger for some readers. <spoiler>Jules has an older brother - a fact we don't learn until about the 50% mark. The reason we don't know about him is because he committed suicide about 3-4 years ago. There is so much history surrounding the brother that ends up playing a big role in this story between Jules's parents, and Jules's relationship with Hunter.</spoiler> I was shocked when I learned this fact and was not pleased to see it had deliberately been kept hidden.

Despite the drama surrounding this story (and there is a lot I didn't mention), there are several light moments to between Jules and Hunter's friends. They all hook up! :D It's sweet to see Nate and Alexis get together. Nate is Jules's best friend and Jules enjoyed watching Nate blush and stutter. Me too! :) Then there is Red who works at the coffee shop with Jules and she is involved with I think the owner. So much romance floating around it felt like it was Valentines.

Would I recommend this? Depends on the reader. Overall, yes, I would recommend this because it had a lot of good things going for it. The drama didn't really ruin the story for me - it just made me mad when it happened. This book won't be for every though, so I would suggest people use their best judgement and know their tastes.

Narration: The voice is not that of a teenage boy and that I didn't like. Aside from that, the narrator did an excellent job and really acted out these scenes very VERY well. I love when a narrator can make me forget I am listening to a book and not watching a movie or something. I would listen to this narrator again. And despite his voice not matching the age of the characters, I would highly recommend the audio because it was well produced and I believe greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the story.

I like a good mystery/thriller/suspense story and the blurb for The Suicide Gene really got my attention - it made me think of stories like Dan Brown or Michael Crichton. Unfortunately the writing style was different than those authors and I found the story outline to be hard to follow at times. There was a lot to keep track of, so many "M" names and background information mixed with what felt like unnecessary minutia details about Emma's life and her mother's/family. And then the twins (Minnie & Mary) kept providing a lot of history about long dead historical people and there was just a lot to follow. The playback to Emma's transcripts was rather annoying with the constant lead in to who is speaking - Emma:...; Minnie:...; etc. It would have been better (for me anyway) if the sessions could have been shown in real time and not in a sort of flashback.

However, this was still an interesting story, and makes you think about genetics, heredity and upbringing. The twins are crazy, and I didn't like them. Matt (the twins brother) was a mystery and I knew there was something about him and his history that was important. Emma was a roller coaster and I could never predict what would be going on with her from one day to the next, especially with concerns about her mother and father. Add in Emma's struggles with her husband Josh, and then add Giff to the equation...a lot of drama to work through there.

But I was still interested enough to figure out how this story was going to play out that I stuck with it and wow. Discovering the FULL history behind Emma, the twins and Matt, their parents and grandmother - OMG! Sick, just some very bad stuff and it's no wonder the kids turned out the way they did. Somehow Matt is the savior in this story, which yes was nice and sweet, but his hands aren't clean either.

Seeing Emma in the epilogue a year-ish after all this went down was nice - she is finally happy and free, pregnant and in love. Spoiler* [She discovers she is pregnant with twins, which freaks her out in a BIG way. But with Giff's help, is able to deal with it, and realizes that her girls will be different because she loves them and will raise them right. The final scene of the book gives every indication that (in the year 2030) one of Emma's twin girls is suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts, and is walking on literal think ice debating with herself about ending her suffering. A man jogging by calls out and brings the woman back to land. I think this is Matt and that he has not stopped looking out for Emma (his sister) or her family. It's never confirmed who the woman is, or who the man is, but who else could they be? (hide spoiler)]

Overall this was a hard book to get thru because of all the details (that felt like way too much info) but thought provoking and I am glad I read it.

As for the narration, I thoroughly enjoyed Bob Johnson's voice and storytelling ability. I've not listened to him before but I would listen to him again. His voice was actually (ironically) very similar to my ear to that of some of Dan Brown's audios. I am failing to remember which book of his that is similar (there have been a few) but regardless, the narrators voice was easy to listen to and a familiar sound which helped me get through some of the story that was hard to hear.

3 stars for the story, 4 stars for the narration.

Unfortunately this story did not work for me. This is my first book by this author and new authors are always kind of scary to try because you never know how it will go. I gambled and lost with this one.

Ben and Micah are both dealing with the death of Ben's sister and her wife (they die in a car accident), and the now orphaned Ross, who is simply an adorable 3 year old. The story started to un-rail for me almost from the start when Micah receives a phone call from a lawyer informing him of the deaths, and that because Micah is the biological father to Ross, is now his legal guardian. I am not a lawyer so this is my uninformed opinion - I don't believe that is how custody works - that Micah would automatically become guardian to Ross. Regardless of how things would play out in real life, this situation didn't feel real and made me give the squint eye. I kept going.

And again, issues regarding custody of Ross kept coming up, with both Ben and Micah being told to consult with lawyers/professionals/mediators to arrange full custody of Ross. Micah, who had agreed to donate his sperm to Ben's sister so they and the child would know who their father was, didn't even know his sons name prior to their death, wanted custody of Ross (of course) and loved him. This situation was another strike in the con column for me with this story. Micah's instant devotion to Ross, Ben and Micah never talking about what they are going to do, the plan to keep Ross secret from Micah's family (who know nothing about him), add in the drama surrounding Ben and Micah's relationship - which never felt real to me, and I was not enjoying this story.

I kept listening because of Ross. He was such a sweetheart and seeing him be so happy all the time always made me smile. When he calls Micah dad, ahh, loved it. But in the end, even Ross wasn't able to save this story for me. The narration was great - and also one of the reasons I continued, but I was still on the verge of stopping so often because the story was too much for my liking.

2 stars for the story, 4 stars for the narration (which was a great performance of material that to me was lacking)
