Intrigue f4om beginning to the end
Revisado: 04-04-25
A typical Lucinda Riley novel. Plots and sub plots. how does she remember the convoluted storyline? she weaves a web for the listeners until you dont know who to trust. Camilla Rockley the narrator, really brought the story to life. I couldn't believe she did ALL those accents. Well done Camilla.

I'm new to Susan Meissner and love her style of writing. This story takes place during the San Francisco earth quake, and fires, It tells of 3 women who have been taken advantage of, and the friendship and trust they build together, and how they deal wih the horrors that befall them. It is beautifully narrated by Alana Kerr Collins.

Historia
Our brains stay active for 10 minutes after our heart stops beating. For Leila, each minute brings with it a new memory: growing up with her father and his wives in a grand old house in a quiet Turkish town; watching the women gossip and wax their legs while the men went to mosque; sneaking cigarettes and Western magazines on her way home from school; running away to Istanbul to escape an unwelcome marriage; falling in love with a student who seeks shelter from a riot in the brothel where she works.

such a thought provoking read
Revisado: 01-20-25
I loved the approach this book took with the sensitive subject of death.
I enjoyed the way the author told us a little bit about all thr friends lives, and how they connected to Tequila Leila.
Nobody knows exactly what happens when we die, but I loved this version of 'possibilities.' The narrator Alix Dunmore's different accents were excellent. I highly recommend this book.

So much to learn
Revisado: 01-20-25
A with everything I read, I take out the information that is relevant.
I was totally absorbed by this book and found it all very interesting. I found myself categorizing my whole family and comparing notes with other members of the family who read the book. The only thing that I found difficult at times, was the speed at which the book was narrated.

The way the author entwined the stories of the 9/11 disaster, and a fire that ravaged a building and the sadness it brought upon the lives of many people.
it also shows that there is always a silver lining. never give up, and be happy

A wonderful story
Revisado: 11-22-24
I loved this book from start to finish. It had all the aspects of a well structured novel. It was serious, probing the decisions we make in our lives, our fears and ultimately how we need to trust ourselves, andcsometimes take tgat leap of faith. The narrator Claudia Jessie was excellent. I will look out for more books narrated by her. I would give this heartwarming book 5 out if 5.

A magnificent family saga
Revisado: 10-11-24
Lucinda Riley, at the young age of 26 years wrote a 526 page novel spanning 2 generations, which kept me spellbound from start to finish. I absolutely loved the narrator Anna Madeley. The way she changed her accents was so well done. I was heartbroken at way Rose and Miranda were manipulated during their lives, and how much heartache one evil person can cause others. I absolutely loved this book.

What matters most
Revisado: 08-06-24
Firstly I loved the narration. The soft Irish lilt, and the harder Anerican accent went well to give the story body.
I enjoyed the twists and turns that life sends their way, and how they dealt with them. How ultimately family and a few good friends are far more important than money.
a real happy, feel good book.

Getting to know the woman
Revisado: 07-27-24
I enjoyed getting to know more about the woman, Kris Jenner. I have the utmost respect for her, having gone through so much pain in her life and still focusing on her family. I liked hearing more about the OJ saga, and her relationship with her ex Robert Kardashian. I do wish she had narrated herself. an enjoyable read.
