Story’s work well, it has a good structure , and they are easy to follow along. It’s a shame this detective isn’t know as well as Sherlock Holmes is.

Historia
“Long live the King” hailed Entertainment Weekly upon publication of Stephen King’s On Writing. Part memoir, part master class by one of the bestselling authors of all time, this superb volume is a revealing and practical view of the writer’s craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. King’s advice is grounded in his vivid memories from childhood through his emergence as a writer, from his struggling early career to his widely reported, near-fatal accident in 1999—and how the inextricable link between writing and living spurred his recovery.

It has incredible advice in it.
Revisado: 03-14-25
I really liked that it had practical advice, and clear instructions on how to improve. It made it clear how he evolved as a writer and the process he uses to consistently write.

Historia
We are in a small room with the vampire, face to face, as he speaks--as he pours out the hypnotic, shocking, moving, and erotically charged confessions of his first two hundred years as one of the living dead. . . He speaks quietly, plainly, even gently . . . carrying us back to the night when he departed human existence as heir--young, romantic, cultivated--to a great Louisiana plantation, and was inducted by the radiant and sinister Lestat into the other, the "endless," life....

Very interesting , and akin to Frankenstein by Mary Shelly in the aspect of defining the monster story.
Revisado: 03-07-25
Worth reading just because of the impact on vampire novels. The story itself is vivid and interesting. The author was excellent at keeping you interested. There was a small portions that slowed but it picked up quickly. It doesn’t feel like a novel but a retelling of a man who lived a long life. And it feels like a man existed in this world and is looking back at it the way a 60 something man looks bad at his waste life.

Incredible masterpiece of writing
Revisado: 02-20-25
This story immediately gets you hooked to the tale , it masterfully defines its universe. And is unique for the way it guides its protagonist hero. I very much enjoyed it. I am actually disappointed I had it spoiled by watching both dune movies. Even though both movies were visually and storywise masterpieces.

A very well made trilogy
Revisado: 02-13-25
I enjoyed the trilogy more than I thought possible. I didn’t know what to expect with this story. The very first book intro had me guessing it was a bit amateur but he worked into the story and it worked. It just got better with each book. The second book at the start had me missing the characters in the first. And in the third book I felt the same with the second book. And he earns his moments in the story. Makes you care about characters that you didn’t care at all for in the first book. Well made talented writer.

All flash no substance
Revisado: 12-15-24
This novel is very light on substance which is only an issue when the villain and the protagonist are not interested on its own. As a movie this novel would not have any issues as visually gory deaths and interesting deaths carry a movie. The fights are well made. But the characters are paper thin, a book form Verizon of a slasher. I read it thinking of what it lacked. It lacked a protagonist central to follow the plot and yes they had to have plenty of people to throw at the monster to die. But without someone to root for it became just noise. I believe if they went into the creature species, history, or just the last visit on earth and recall the ramifications of the people it killed dying it could have given the story more meaning or substance. Not very memorable. The voice acting was great. And pacing was straight to the point because the way it’s written could have easily spend 1/3 training or 1/3 of it negotiating for more money for the company to pad the time.

It was heavy at the start but once you got past the start very well crafted
Revisado: 12-15-24
At the very beginning, the exposition was heavy. But once you get past it you can see a very skilled writer. This is a telling of an established universe and it does not feel like they are creating as they go. That said it is well made but the story feels like a filler episode of a tv show. Usually they suffer from feeling devoid of value. Unless the characters are fun to hang out with. The friendship in this story feels very real and enjoyable. The villain not so much.

Honesty is the best policy. Beware a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Look before you leap. A bird in the hand. These and countless other everyday expressions originated centuries ago with Aesop, the slave and storyteller of ancient Greece. With humor, irony, and commonsense philosophy, Aesop’s Fables illuminates the follies, frailties, and resilience of humankind to this day.

Worth a read
Revisado: 11-07-24
The pros: the man can write characters pretty well. His monsters work. And the science and military combat work . The three stories never feel long or drawn out and they start and end well. The cons the villains work but aren’t memorable. He can work on that. And in book 3 he reached the point where his villain started to really cook. SPOILER- You can tell the man has skill as a writer but he doesn’t let the villains marinate and is too quick on the draw. Might be he thought the trilogy would end there which I doubt . But he has an excellent villain towards the end and he wasted it because he wanted to get the feeling of his retribution. He did that already in book 2 which he even says now this villain and that villain can rot together. The premise that your villain has turn your world upside down. Is an amazing hook for book 4 but he throws in the trash because he wants his hero to earn a win under his belt.

It is a well made novel .
Revisado: 11-05-24
This book is often used in writing classes to help teach world building. That should be enough to describe how good it is. I watched the movie first before the novel so ruined it for me. But you can see overtime how Stephen king developed as a writer. The scary factor I didn’t feel, but as a novel it is well written. He does a good job of making a town feel like it isn’t a couple of lines of paper.
