Here for the first time the stories and short novels of the war with the Outs are collected into a novel-length chronicle. The Outs had mental powers they could use to make humans see illusions and convince them to change sides. Obviously, they were unbeatable - until some troublesome humans found their Achilles' heel.

The Trouble with Humans was much more entertaining, with humor and a lighthearted tone overall. This book had none of those endearing qualities and I couldn't wait for it to be over. Save your time and money and choose a different listen. Just my opinion...

the last 4 chapters or so. Hated the ending. Just didn't seem to fit the rest of what had been an interesting police thriller. Felt huge disappointment at the way things ended.

interesting premise

Still not sure if I really liked this book, and that's ok. The premise was intriguing and the author did a fine job of navigating through various viewpoints. The book definitely kept my interest, but I found the use of two narrators distracting. One consistently good narrator would have made the book flow better. If you like books that make you wonder why things are the way they are, or question what's real and what's not, this book is for you.

Don't get me wrong. I liked this story very much, but despite an excellent narration by Zachary Quinto, it was choppy. To me it seemed like there was much more character development possible, but it was shortchanged due to time. I think it would make an excellent full length novel.
