Historia
Siobhan is a quick-tempered life coach with way too much on her plate. Miranda is a tree surgeon used to being treated as just one of the guys on the job. Jane is a soft-spoken volunteer for the local charity shop with zero sense of self-worth. These three women are strangers who have only one thing in common: They’ve all been stood up on the same day, the very worst day to be stood up—Valentine’s Day. And, unbeknownst to them, they’ve all been stood up by the same man.

Beautiful Twists & Turns
Revisado: 11-29-22
Beth O'Leary is great at making you fall in love with her characters, even if you feel like you shouldn't! I thought I had this story figured out, then I was shocked by a massive plot twist that blew me out of the water and had me rethinking my judgements of the characters. This story is beautiful, emotional, and heartwarming! Definitely recommend!

A Beautiful Love Story
Revisado: 05-28-22
Nick and Charlie are my favorite people! They are so fun, sweet, and wonderfully flawed. They love each other so beautifully that it warms my heart! I love this Novella. Alice Oseman is so good at telling stories! They are so talented at setting the scene and drawing the audience in. I was enthralled the entire time! I'm excited to read more of their books and graphic novels, and I can't wait for more of Nick and Charlie's story to be revealed! 🥰❤️

What a fun read!
Revisado: 02-08-22
This story was so lovely! I enjoyed the whole plot and the twist towards the end, which I wasn’t expecting. I found myself wanting to hear more. I did feel the narrator was often very enthusiastic announcing the chapters, but it made the book a fun read. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series because I have fallen in love with the characters and Whitsborough Bay!

Beautiful Story, fun series
Revisado: 01-28-22
First, I really like that I can listen to this series on speaker without fear of rushing to put my headphones in if a kid or a prudish/sensitive person walks in the room, if you know what I mean 👀… It toes the line without crossing it. I really enjoyed this story. I love getting to hear more about Elise, and I feel like her struggle and perseverance can be helpful, especially to people who might be going through something similar. She is smart, independent, and kind, and she doesn’t (for the most part) act like a big, oblivious fool like many female leads in stories like these. I really like the narrator and the universe she created here in Whitsborough Bay! Onto Book 4!!

Revisado: 01-17-22
This book and this village are both so cute! I can tell that the author is a fan of The Vicar of Dibley, one of my favorite shows - there are a couple of nods to the show in this story. I recommend this series.

Really Cute Story
Revisado: 01-11-22
This was a really fun story. I loved all the characters despite their flaws, and I was genuinely wondering how everything would work out! There was a great twist that I didn’t expect, and I enjoyed it so much! I agree that some of the accents were a little over the top, but it was fine. I was able to let it go and enjoy the story.

Things can only get better.... Her grumpy but decidedly handsome new neighbour, Mack, has a habit of bestowing unsolicited good deeds on her. And when Jenny is welcomed into a rather unusual book club, life seems to finally be getting more interesting. Instead of reading, the members pledge to complete individual challenges before Christmas.

This was a great story! Very fun! Despite the title, it wasn’t centered around Christmas, but it was always there in the background. This story had twists and turns that I didn’t expect and others that I did, but I enjoyed it so much! And the narrator, Helen Keeley was amazing! Her comedic timing was so good, and I can’t wait to see read other stories she has narrated!

Historia
It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old". Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

Beautiful, but…
Revisado: 11-30-21
I really enjoyed the love story and the characters in this book. It’s a REALLY slow burn, and a beautiful love story in the end.
HOWEVER, (sigh) I was shocked within the first hour or so of the book by the authors’ casual use of some phrases and terms which are offensive. (I’m not someone who gets easily offended, but I was shocked by the use of these terms and want to briefly warn those who are easily offended - these terms and phrases were only used once in the beginning.)
First, saying that a wedding dress is someone’s “Spirit Animal” is trivializing and amounts to Native and Indigenous People’s cultural appropriation. As a “Well and Good” article by Erin Magner says, “it takes the concept of [indigenous cultures’] sacred connection with and reverence for nature and twists it into a catchphrase and a commodity.” It’s not cool to cavalierly throw this phrase around. Non-Natives need to stop using it.
Second, the authors use the term “Spaz” (short for “Spastic”) which is a highly derogatory term for a person with a disability that causes muscle spasms, like Cerebral Palsy. **SPOILER ALERT** Use of the offensive term is even more tone deaf given that we later discover that Reed, the main male character, has Multiple Sclerosis — a disease which can cause muscle tremors and spasms!
Finally, the authors use the term Mexican Jumping Bean which can also be used as a slur for Mexican-Americans.
The use of these terms appeared to be thrown about in an attempt use unique descriptors and to show the book’s relevance by using pop culture terminology. I find that this rarely works and usually has the opposite effect of dating the book and making it feel tacky or like I t’s trying too hard to be cool.
Despite every negative that I mentioned, I still enjoyed the story very much. Next time, the authors and editor should catch offensive terms like these and replace them with different, equally descriptive phrases. More appropriate choices can still make the point without offending.

Very Moving, Beautiful story.
Revisado: 11-13-21
This was my first Danielle Steel book. I was enthralled the whole time, and now that I’ve finished it, I feel like I’ve lost an old friend. I’ve heard that’s how you can tell that a book is good - you get a sense of loss when it’s completed. This was a beautiful story, a mix of a contemporary and a historic romance…Parallel love stories that somewhat echo each other over centuries. The audio is a little rough in some places, but audible warns you about that before you purchase. Also, another reader mentioned that the actor just reads the story and doesn’t do different voices for all the characters. That is accurate, but it didn’t bother me at all. In fact, I loved his voice when he reads the story - it’s very 1950s TV/Radio voice, which I love.

Good Story, but I’m torn!
Revisado: 10-11-21
This story was well written and generally fun. I really liked how the author structured the flashbacks and the characters are funny and likable, for the most part. Though generally likable, the main character is clueless, obnoxious, selfish, and unreasonable. She is also super annoying in the last few chapters! I know her personality flaws are part of the plot, but I think it was overdone. I was tempted to stop reading because she frustrated me so much!
I’m torn between three stars and four stars. Alexandra is so annoying that I want to shake her and yell the truth to her - I don’t enjoy that feeling. Thus, three stars. BUT, if the author wanted to convey those feelings of frustration and annoyance, she did a great job! Thus, four stars.
I think this is a little like how we all love to hate Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter. I hate that woman — but, then again, I’m meant to. If you don’t mind all these things, give this a try. It’s a cute story, if you can stand it.
