I hate gaborn
Revisado: 09-08-22
great story. fantastic magic system, would love to play it. gaborn... man that dude could have prevented what, 100 deaths? endowments are super evil. like they take dozens, hundreds, thousands? which means for each person they absorb they make a person that just lays there useless. gaborn... hate him, so much better he could have done. yet he had 2, 3? endowments of wit? and still failed to grasp the obvious? ya fuck that guy. i look forward to part 2. thank you

I enjoyed this one more than part 1. if you were on the fence for moving forward you should. Good reader, good writer, good music and sound effects.

In hope of relaying the truth of the usurper, who now threatens the throne, Meath embarks on a dangerous journey with the true heiress, Nicolette, in an attempt to reach her uncle before they, too, are entangled in the lie that has wound itself deep into the lands.

swords and sorcery
Revisado: 01-05-22
it's got everything someone would want in a swords and sorcery story. the audio sound effects were a plus, the reader was good too.
it ended on a cliff hanger which i hate for books, but it's okay due to the others already being out.
The only thing i did not like was the occasional scene that felt needlessly extended. without spoilers there was one scene where someone wanted to go back to town and they kept arguing pointlessly with people about it for too long, the arguments were circular too and served no purpose so far as i could tell.
on a plus note the massive battle was not needlessly too long, it was pleasantly too long. the magic system was not overly complex (which would have been fine either way). the father figure wizard was not too prideful and generally made good decisions which added to his character.
i hope part 2 has a great explanation for why they couldn't tell the main character why they kidnapped him, such as magic prevented them from explaining it. I just hope it isn't they were simply following orders. She seemed too intelligent to be like that.

Historia
For eons, Earth has been under observation by the Firstborn, beings almost as old as the universe itself. The Firstborn are unknown to humankind - until they act. In an instant, Earth is carved up and reassembled like a huge jigsaw puzzle. Suddenly the planet and every living thing on it no longer exist in a single timeline.

pretty good

Khan vs Alexander to summarize.
there was a line i did not care for "They can't be gods. They have no compassion." And for a person to believe that they conceive of an all powerful god that is compassionate, but that doesn't fit into what we know about reality.

Historia
I decided that Orion Lake needed to die after the second time he saved my life. Everyone loves Orion Lake. Everyone else, that is. Far as I’m concerned, he can keep his flashy combat magic to himself. I’m not joining his pack of adoring fans. I don’t need help surviving the Scholomance, even if they do. Forget the hordes of monsters and cursed artifacts; I’m probably the most dangerous thing in the place. Just give me a chance and I’ll level mountains and kill untold millions, making myself the dark queen of the world.

disappointed
Revisado: 04-25-21
i learned that dracula went to scholomance and have been looking for a book about that. this book is not about that. i wanted to read about dracula going to dracula school where they have a dragon and the literal devil is the teacher. instead i get a story about an emotionally unstable teenager going through wizard school. and that's a good concept in and of itself. i wanted to review this without adding or subtracting stars. so i gave it a 3 but i don't want my vote to count because it's my fault i am not enjoyong this story.

Historia
In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in the house, but the property - complete with boathouse and swimming pool - and the price were too good to pass up. This is the shocking true story of an American dream that turned into a nightmare beyond imagining for the Lutz family, who were forced to flee their new home in terror.

horrible

just awful
for a fictional story to belittle scientists and science by insisting it's a true story and spend the first 20 minutes talking about how bad science is just to push this bad story speaks for itself. terrible, just bad. go read supernatural in horror.
