This would’ve been a lot better if the author hadn’t so obviously been pressured to add more sex in the effort to make it more marketable to the fans of “court of thorns and roses “ type of story. Would’ve been better if it had pandered less to the current popularity of romantasy” the writing is pretty good the story would be better with more of the focus on the character development and adding some depth to them beyond them lusting after each other. I’m not saying sex isn’t a relevant part of the story it just seems to be included so often that it was at the expense of the actual story. If that’s what you’re into, go for it -but if you’re looking for a relatable female character with depth I’d suggest you listen to Morgan is My Name or the wheel of time series.

One dimensional characters with zero imagination and absolutely nothing that makes you care about anything that happens to them. Narrators “Irish” accent is so bad he just shouldn’t bother.

Sophie Keetch is a true storyteller

The simplicity and stunning grace of the language in these two books by Sophie Keetch adds so many layers to the depth of the characters and the breadth of the story. Sparing and lush at the same time, the authors choice of words pull you in closer and closer until it truly feels like you are viewing the world through Morgan’s eyes or at least standing beside her. I absolutely adore this character and this author and I can’t wait to see where they bring us next as readers. A genuinely beautiful and original perspective brought to Arthurian legend. Bravo Sophie Keetch.

Still the weirdo dudes you hung out with in 8th grade

For a true crime podcast it’s strangely comforting… they’ve been around for so long it’s like sitting around with your buddies talking shit and cranking butts in your parents basement . They weird. It’s great.

Narration is robotic

I really want to listen to this book but I truly cannot listen to the story of someone who was so emotionally committed and involved in his career being read by someone who seems completely unaffected by the subject matter. It sounds like he’s reading a traffic report or announcing a baseball game or something and it’s so distracting I can’t finish it...I’ve listened to a lot of audio books written by former detectives and FBI agents and most of them aren’t particularly well performed by the reader but this one actually bothers me so much I can’t listen to it. I’m sure the narrator is a lovely fellow but you cannot read a memoir like this without any emotion or thought given to cadence, tone, etc.

The accent...

Bramhall's narration is good, but the Australian accent he uses for Poppy was so bad that it was distracting.
