Historia
"Who am I becoming?" That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. Outwardly, he appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren’t pretty. So, he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: "Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life." It wasn’t the response he expected, but it was - and continues to be - the answer he needs. Within this audiobook, you’ll find a fascinating road map to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world.

This was exactly what I didn't know I need to understand about my walk with God. I its practical and simplistic but extremely life altering.

Too Much
Revisado: 12-02-23
the story was very entertaining, but the repetition of information was a hindrance. Also I think the the writer enjoys thinking up as many insulting derogatory names for women as possible. The men were men, but the women were compared to every inhuman animal and body part he could imagine.

Too heavy on the witchcraft.
Revisado: 08-06-23
book 1 was a balanced mixture of myth and lore. Book 2 was focused on something else. I didn't like the dark turn and how much time we spent talking to the dead.

Read The Book!
Revisado: 08-02-23
This was a fantastic story! Deonn does an amazing job of weaving a tapestry of history, culture, myth and lore with 21st century life. Unfortunately the narrator blurred the character lines. The narrator is clearly an African American female raised submerged in black culture. It's easier to ignore that the protagonist was raised in a predominantly white town and school. But everyone else either sounds like a urban black female or an urban black male. Even the Southern drawl doesn't explain the diction. I loved the story. As an African American it opens doors and minds. I just wish I had read the book instead of listening to it.

Bringing Life and History to an old tale!
Revisado: 07-24-23
I love African Folklore, but this was beyond anything I could imagine. The seamless merging of history and lore topped with outstanding story telling made me wish the story would never end. The Narrator was perfection. The Little Mermaid as we know it is bland in comparison to Skin of the sea!

Good story bad voices
Revisado: 06-08-23
The story was cool. I had to push past the voices to focus on the storyline. At times I didn't know whichever character was talking. The redeeming quality was the satisfying ending.

Historia
Britt-Marie can't stand mess. She eats dinner at precisely the right time and starts her day at six in the morning because only lunatics wake up later than that. And she is not passive-aggressive. Not in the least. It's just that sometimes people interpret her helpful suggestions as criticisms, which is certainly not her intention. But at 63, Britt-Marie has had enough. She finally walks out on her loveless 40-year marriage and finds a job in the only place she can: Borg, a small, derelict town devastated by the financial crisis.

lacking in every area
Revisado: 06-25-22
There was way too much talk and explanation. The protagonist was one dimensional. The language was without imagination. everyone just said F*** a lot. I skipped from 15 to the end and didn't miss anything. not a good use of time and money.

Well crafted, but distracted by agenda.
Revisado: 06-18-22
The agenda was heavy handed in the one. I wasn't able to really enjoy the nuances of the story because I felt like I was constantly being told what all should think and feel.
