Historia
Was What's My Line TV star, media icon, and crack investigative reporter and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen murdered for writing a tell-all book about the JFK assassination? If so, is the main suspect in her death still at large? These questions and more are answered in former CNN, ESPN, and USA Today legal analyst Mark Shaw's 25th book, The Reporter Who Knew Too Much.

A real flop
Revisado: 01-15-23
Another hyperbolic Kennedy conspiracy book. Tends to ignore basic known facts, too many “what ifs” and “but” in the story line. It keeps referring to an amazing amount of evidence gathered by Ms Kilgallen about the Kennedy Oswald assassination, but there is no known evidence and she seems not to have shared it with anyone. Not her publisher, her Newspaper editor or her hairdresser. The reader was good.

Historia
Uluru is the indigenous Australian name for an enormous rock formation found in central Australia. Made from sandstone, Uluru is a rock monolith or an ‘island mountain’, a formation that geologists refer to as a monadnock. It stands 318 m (986 ft) high and has a circumference of 8 km (5 miles). It is located 335 km (208 mi) south west of the nearest rural centre, the large town of Alice Springs.

7 minutes is not sufficient to write the story of such an Icon. However, issues pertaining to climbing the rock have been misrepresented. Aboriginal Rangers had for many years taken visitors onto the Rock, stating in documentaries that there is no issue with people climbing, only that they do not enter a handful of Sacred Sites. Also, 80 years ago there were almost no local Aboriginal folks in the area, choosing to live in other regions as there was little infrastructure. It is a beautiful place with a wonderful history. I have been there three times.

Historia
Viktor Orlov had a longstanding appointment with death. Once Russia's richest man, he now resides in exile in London, where he is waging a crusade against the kleptocrats who have seized control of the Kremlin. His mansion is protected by armed bodyguards. Yet somehow, on a rainy summer evening, in the midst of a global pandemic, Russia's vengeful president finally manages to cross Orlov's name off his kill list.

Very disappointing
Revisado: 02-18-22
This book was very disappointing. Daniel’s focus on Covid throughout the book and his sermonising on vaccines and masks was totally superfluous to the story.Covid’s constant interdiction into a drama story with such potential was disruptive and problematic. The sermon Daniel gave at the end of the book belongs more to NYT or Washington Post progressive opinion pieces. Daniel cherry picked commentary from others and spoilt the entire read. If you want a good story, this had potential. We have lived and breathed Covid on our news and in our community, our ëscape”hatch into an alternative world via fiction did not happen here and it was overdone and over intrusive.a very poor author and editor choice. Daniel did not mention the USA recognition of Jerusalem as Isreal’s capital and its Embassy move nor did he mention the Abraham Accords nor did he mention the strict sanctions placed on Russia in the 2nd half of his Presidency. I also really did not enjoy the reader after having had George read his previous books. This readers attempt at Israeli accents was overdone and stereotypical and would have been more suited to a bad sketch on Saturday Night Live.

Not much about Charlie Parker
Revisado: 11-17-21
I liked the fact Charlie eventually got it on with the police woman. Finally. But stuff about Serbian crime gangs became ever so boring. Bring back Maine and Charlie as the prime story lines. You almost lost me on this one.

Historia
In February 1969, the Beatles began working on what became their final album together. Abbey Road introduced a number of new techniques and technologies to the Beatles' sound and included "Come Together", "Something", and "Here Comes the Sun", which all emerged as classics. Womack's colorful retelling of how this landmark album was written and recorded is a treat for fans of the Beatles. Solid State takes listeners back to 1969 and into EMI's Abbey Road Studios, which boasted an advanced solid state transistor mixing desk.

Important reading for serious music fans
Revisado: 06-06-21
Firstly, I must say I am often very dubious about books written in regard to my favoured group of musicians such as the Beatles. It is often conjecture, hearsay and downright embellishment to the actual true state of the history itself. However, I found this book by Mr Womack totally engaging and adhered to best practice. Telling what happened without reams of padding or opinion. I fully enjoyed the explanations of the gear, rigs and equipment used although the actual amplification equipment and pedals might have been better detailed. The book also confirmed my belief that although there were personal problems within the group, they still operated together as a collaboration in a way that was meaningful.Issues like John and Paul singing at the Pub,them hanging together at Paul’s place, sessions like Ballad of John yoko and Come Together all demonstrate that they were not just a functioning rock band, but had respect for each others musical expertise. What the book also demonstrated was the destruction of John’s personality by Heroine. The development of George as a songwriter of classical skill and the consummate enjoyment Paul had in making his music. Probably the best book on the Beatles or even the 60’s rock period I have ever read. Combined with Peter Browns book, a superb chronicle of the latter time of John Paul George and Ringo.

After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst. When the king's own nephew is discovered funding ISIS, the president suspects that the Saudis never intended to live up to their agreement.

Very disappointing
Revisado: 10-02-17
Firstly, why wasn't George Fidel used for this book?? He gives Mitch Rapp life and personality, Scott is good for some books, but really did not get it. Also,I don't think that Kyle really got the essence of Mitch in this. He rarely uses side people other than basic support as opposed to full on team work.also, too much Claudia and their relationship. No one gives a damn about this aspect of Mitch. This one just didnt work both at he story line level and reader level.I would be thinking very hard before purchasing the next one and it will depend on quite a few reviews first. I would not be recommending this book to anyone if they were a Mitch Rapp fan. I would suggest they give it a miss. Bring back George as the reader and have Kyle Mills revisit the personality of Mitch. It is like you have all gone off the reservation, as Mitch would say. Try again.
