Historia
Robert and Cortney Novogratz, stars of HGTV’s Home by Novogratz and Bravo’s 9 by Design, have transformed fabulous properties across the United States and around the world, including Hotel Dylan (Woodstock, New York), the Bungalow Hotel (Long Branch, New Jersey), and Timber Cove (Sonoma, California), to name a few. The Novogratz Chronicles is their most intimate and personal book to date, taking listeners on their journey from their first house renovation project in Chelsea in the 1990s to their latest home in Greenwich Village and projects in Los Angeles, Brazil, and the Berkshires.

Historia
A body always tells a story - but this child’s was a blank page. Rita reached for the lantern. She trained its light on the child’s face. "Who are you?" she murmured, but the face said as little as the rest of her. It was impossible to tell whether, in life, these blunt and unfinished features had borne the imprint of prettiness, timid watchfulness, or sly mischief. If there had once been curiosity or placidity or impatience here, life had not had time to etch it into permanence. Only a very short time ago, the body and soul of this little girl had still been securely attached.

Historia
It is 1873. Mrs. Eliza Touchet is the Scottish housekeeper—and cousin by marriage—of a once-famous novelist, now in decline, William Ainsworth, with whom she has lived for thirty years. Mrs. Touchet is a woman of many interests: literature, justice, abolitionism, class, her cousin, his wives, this life and the next. But she is also sceptical. She suspects her cousin of having no talent; his successful friend, Mr. Charles Dickens, of being a bully and a moralist; and England of being a land of facades, in which nothing is quite what it seems.

Beautiful narration..just hard to follow as audible book
Revisado: 07-17-24
Loved the author narrator. She brought to life so vividly all her characters. But as an audible book, it became confusing…I was left unsure of several story lines, rather these became “islands” I couldn’t quite connect.

After listening to Gary, I’d like to meet him at one of his favorite places. This book is the perfect mix & you won’t want it to end, like you do the lol fog horn! (But Gary, I won’t talk to you on the plane! He even manages to be bitchy I’m just the right dosage.)

The Barnes family is in trouble. Dickie’s once-lucrative car business is going under—but Dickie is spending his days in the woods, building an apocalypse-proof bunker with a renegade handyman. His wife, Imelda, is selling off her jewelry on eBay and half-heartedly dodging the attention of fast-talking cattle farmer Big Mike, while their teenage daughter, Cass, formerly top of her class, seems determined to binge drink her way through her final exams. As for twelve-year-old PJ, he’s on the brink of running away.

Great storyline & characters. One of the best audio books I’ve listened to - voice actors were very, very good. Stunned at ending!

Great story & Meryl Streep: perfect combo
Revisado: 09-01-23
I loved Meryl Streep as narrator of Heartburn, so when I saw she narrated this, I was hooked. The story, the setting, Meryl…it’s what I want all audio books to be.

Disappointed, couldn’t get past a few chapters. Story moves so slow, awkward dialogue. Narrator reads so…fake, makes it more cringey.
