Good story with stupid banter
Revisado: 04-01-24
The premise of the story is good. However, there were so many stupid moments - a seasoned spy who is afraid of bugs and refuses to use the soap bar others have used -the seasoned girlfriend spy who upon learning her spy boyfriend is with a girl in North Korea automatically thinks her boyfriend is cheating on her - the fact that an old woman in the back mountain regions of N. Korea speaks fluent English - and more.

Another good addition to the Kate Marshall series
Revisado: 05-23-23
A good story describing a different side of British life. The early near drowning oddly didn’t really impact the story other than to put two people in the same hospital room. However, the story brought together many loose threads to weave a good yarn.

Historia
The messages waiting for Henry Pierce when he plugs in his new phone clearly aren't intended for him. They indicate something has gone terribly wrong for a woman named Lilly. Pierce probes, investigates, and then tumbles through a hole, leaving behind a life driven by work to track down and help a woman he's never met. Connelly's latest is "a grabber from the beginning...utterly compelling."

Last two hours were worthy of Michael Connelly
Revisado: 05-09-23
This is one of my least favorite of Michael Connelly‘s books. And I’ve read them all. I did not really care for any of the characters, so I did not care what happened in the story. Two diverse to storylines were going on, and I knew they would cross eventually, but it took way too long. The lead character bumbling through the disappearance of a prostitute was ridiculous. All I could think of was are you wearing gloves? Why don’t you ask for a lawyer? He just kept bumbling on, and you knew it would be his downfall. No surprise there. The last two hours were worthy of M Connelly but it was painful getting there.

Historia
Forced out of the Los Angeles Times amid the latest budget cuts, newspaperman Jack McEvoy decides to go out with a bang, using his final days at the paper to write the definitive murder story of his career. He focuses on Alonzo Winslow, a 16-year-old drug dealer in jail after confessing to a brutal murder. But as he delves into the story, Jack realizes that Winslow's so-called confession is bogus. The kid might actually be innocent.

Historia
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Last 2 hours saved it from a 3 rating
Revisado: 12-04-22
The first 4/5 of this book were a solid 3 rating of a very linear story with no surprises and characters I tried but didn’t really care about. Finally the book came alive with about 2 1/2 hours left. More tightly written with actual suspense.

A great book
Revisado: 12-01-22
As always, a great read. So much detail and heart. My only negative comments are that the prosecutor and detective seemed stereotypical. And it was odd that not more was made of no gun, no DNA on the supposed murder, no gun residue, that the victim couldn’t have been the only client over his career that didn’t pay, etc.

Historia
It’s spring in the tiny town of Damariscotta, a tourist haven on the coast of Maine known for its oysters and antiques. Andrew, a high school English teacher recently returned to the area, has brought his family to Ed and Steph Thatch’s sprawling riverside estate to attend a reception for the Amherst women’s lacrosse team. Back when they were all teenagers, Andrew never could have predicted that Ed, descended from a long line of lobstermen, or Steph, a decent student until she dropped out to start a family, would ever send a daughter to a place like Amherst.

Well narrated. A lot of effort for very little reward.
Revisado: 11-13-22
There were several times during this book that I almost stopped reading it. I kept saying, “where is this going? “After finishing the book I looked back and said to myself, “why was so much time spent on this part or that part of the book when they had very little to do with the whole story? “ I would not recommend this book.

Mickey Haller has fallen on tough times. He expands his business into foreclosure defense, only to see one of his clients accused of killing the banker she blames for trying to take away her home. Mickey puts his team into high gear to exonerate Lisa Trammel, even though the evidence and his own suspicions tell him his client is guilty. Soon after he learns that the victim had black market dealings of his own, Haller is assaulted, too—and he's certain he's on the right trail.

Never what they seem
Revisado: 01-17-22
It amazes me the number of twists and turns Connelly takes in his Haller series. I’ve come to enjoy Haller even more than Bosch as he’s more vulnerable ans has room to evolve.

Memories define us. So what if you lost yours every time you went to sleep? Your name, your identity, your past, even the people you love - all forgotten overnight. Too repetitive but well written
Revisado: 09-03-16
The novel by its subject required a lot of repetition as Chrissy learns about her life anew each day. It was a slowly developed story that could have moved a bit faster. However, the author does an excellent job of putting you in Chrissy's place. Well written and read.
