Historia
When human bones are found beneath an old chapel in the woods, evidence suggests the remains could be linked to the decades-old case of missing teen Annalise Jansen. Homicide detective Jane Munro—pregnant and acutely attuned to the preciousness of life—hopes the grim discovery will finally bring closure to the girl’s family. But for a group of Annalise’s old friends, once dubbed the Shoreview Six by the media, it threatens to expose a terrible pledge made on an autumn night forty-seven years ago.

Monotonous
Revisado: 08-07-24
This book started it interesting but about 1/3 of the way in it just faded into the background and dragged on and on. I deleted it with an hour left to go and have no interest in knowing what I missed, it just got so boring.

painfully frustrating
Revisado: 01-29-23
I found it very challenging to stick with this story when the main characters repeatedly made the very obvious wrong choices. whether it was to keep going back to a violent man and allow your daughter to be exposed to that violence, or to stand by and watch him ridicule himself with violent fearful hateful rhetoric in a town where he was an outsider but people allowed his poison to supercede, or where an intelligent young girl goes against all direction multiple times only to get herself into more trouble.
this is why I listened for 90% of the story but STILL gave up in the end. I couldn't listen to one more idiotic bad decision.
the narrator was perfection. if it weren't for her I wouldn't have made it past the first few chapters.
the details about Alaska were very enjoyable.
the writing was actually good it was the constantly depressing storyline of bad choices that was unbearable.

Historia
When wilderness guide Harper Ward is summoned to the small town sheriff's office in Helena Springs, Montana, to provide assistance on a case, she is shocked to find that their only suspect in the double murder investigation is a man described as a savage. But the longer she watches the man known only as Lucas, on the station surveillance camera, the more intrigued she becomes. He certainly looks primitive with his unkempt appearance and animal skin attire, but she also sees intelligence in his eyes, sensitivity in his expression. Who is he?

Historia
Hockey star Max Yearwood was everything I needed at the time - fun, sexy, up for anything, and only around for a few months, since he’d signed with a new team 3,000 miles away. Max proposed we spend the summer helping me forget my ex. It sounded like a good plan. Things couldn’t get too serious when we had an expiration date. Right? Though, you know what they say about the best-laid plans.

Male Narrator issues
Revisado: 01-04-23
the female narrator was great and the male narrator is a good narrator but not for this story. his voice is more suited to comedy, not romance. too goofy to align with a sexy lead male character. and his female impressions were tacky. I stopped at the 5th chapter when he started narrating. :/

can't do the narrator
Revisado: 11-15-22
the narrator ruined this book for me in the first 5 minutes. can't do it. the pauses and narration timing won't let the story flow. it's a shame cause it might be a great book.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Seriously?
Revisado: 10-30-22
This story line is ridiculous. I'm baffled at the reviews. It's so unrealistic and annoying to hear the characters going on tip-toeing around this memory loss situation and refusing to expose any actual memories or facts. I was able to guess the truth of their relationship right away, so obviously the main character would've put it together even if she couldn't remember it without the book going on for hours with her wondering about it. I'm beyond annoyed and am stopping the book before the 1/2 way mark. it's not worth sticking it out just to know the ending.

Abrupt Ending
Revisado: 10-28-22
great story but the ending really jumped out of nowhere. the narrator did an excellent job. I feel like the story developed at a good pace for the first 3/4 of the book and than accelerated at the end leaving me a little disappointed with how quickly it ended but other than that it was a great story. excellent descriptions that painted a good picture of the surroundings.

narrator ruins it
Revisado: 07-19-22
I thought I could get through this story but the narrator is so terrible I just can't. she has a robotic monotone voice that comes alive only to make the female characters sound childlike. none of it works for this story. very annoying cause it might actually be a decent story, hard to tell, blinded by the narrator.
