Historia
No one loves musicals more than Riley Morris—her dream is to be a Broadway director. But when the spring show is canceled, Riley has to figure out a way to bring it back. Easier said than done—she’s stuck working at her dad’s game store. The place that means more to him than his family does. Riley can't waste time at a dead-end job when her entire future is resting on making a name for herself. So she convinces her co-worker Nathan Wheeler—the floppy-haired, glasses-wearing guy she barely knows from school—to help her. In exchange, she’ll help him make his gamer-girl crush jealous.

So fun!
Revisado: 05-02-25
I was laughing out loud a lot during this book. It was so fun and cute and the gamer/nerd culture references were funny and relatable. The narrator was amazing! I haven’t listened to a book in a long time where the narrator sold it as much as the story.

Sooooo slow
Revisado: 04-14-25
Ooooooh my goodness. This was soooo slow! The reader was slow. The book was slow. The characters were slow. The romance drug on until I was not into it at all. I actually wished Elizabeth would just marry Lord Hastings and Elizabeth and Oliver would both get what they deserved for being so coy with each other. Just tell each other how you feel already!
Honestly, I felt that if this story had been told in anyone else’s perspective, Elizabeth and Oliver would have been the soft villains—or at least the annoying side characters—because all they did was lead everyone and each other on while avoiding the issue at hand.

Cute book with good characters
Revisado: 02-21-25
What a cute book! I liked all the characters and appreciated that all the side character men weren’t rapists and creeps. The characters felt authentic. It was a fun premise and executed well. The friendship between Rose and Elizabeth was kind of glossed over.

Long stream of mishaps
Revisado: 02-07-25
….I don’t know. I had high expectations for this book, and it didn’t really deliver. It was a long string of mishaps so that Eli could dramatically rescue Priscilla every time. He just kept berating her for being too weak for the journey, and then she’d sort of prove him right by falling in a river or falling off a horse and so on. They were also living in such close quarters that the beating around their feelings just took forever. I’d say 2.5 stars but I’ll raise it to 3 because I usually like Hedlund’s books.

Good story, but missing ending
Revisado: 03-25-24
This book was interesting, but it was an odd ending. A lot of time was spent on her childhood and then after Caesar left, there was just an epilogue and a quick run of the rest of her life. I don’t really understand why we didn’t get to read about more interesting parts of her life. The parts I read were good.

Historia
The story that made Agatha Christie famous ends with one of her most dramatic twists. The villagers of King’s Abbot are shocked when a wealthy local widow commits suicide and the very next day her fiancé, Roger Ackroyd, is stabbed to death. Dr. James Sheppard, the local physician, discovers the body of his friend and narrates the ensuing hunt for the killer. All the guests and staff at Ackroyd's country house seem to have solid alibis - except for his missing stepson.

This is a great mystery! There were many parts that were just a retelling of the courtroom scenes. There was no real emotion or drive, but it was relevant to the case.
A good read nonetheless!
