But the changes in Victoria make him alter his opinion.

Fun and entertaining listening!
Revisado: 05-26-24
This story was unique in terms of time travel. Different then other stories I've read. Overall the plot itself I give a 4/5 stars as I felt some things did not make sense, but I loved the characters, most of the story, and the narrators so much that I can overlook the things left unanswered. **spoilers** Specifically about how the main character time traveled if she physically never left the future? Whose body was she in if the one person they said she looked like was dead at the time she "time traveled"? It seemed like it was more of a mental/spiritual travel then physical, but whose body did she inhabit? The main guy I understand more. It is basically reincarnation, not time travel. But for the main girl I'm still very confused on that. But other than that, I loved the book and highly recommend it to everyone!

SPOILERS!!!
This book was awful! Coming from someone who has loved all the books in the series so far, that says a lot. It felt like the author decided to change the way all her characters acted from the past novels.
I HATE QUINN!!! I used to love Quinn. He wasn't perfect but I still liked him and he was good. Now he has flipped and become a psychotic monster. I mean he literally calls Layla just an incubator for their kids and tells her he is going to literally kill her. I mean, if that happened in real life he would be arrested and lose all parental rights. But NO...all the misogynistic brothers side with Quinn, even when he literally shoots a gun at Layla who is next to the kids....in a house full of other shelans and kids. I mean come on! Once again in the real world he would be arrested and lose all parental rights but not in this dumb story. Nope, Layla is forced to leave while Quinn gets to be with his kids. And the whole brotherhood blames Layla for being with Xcor, but are you kidding me? First, don't tell me when they found their 1 true love they wouldn't do anything, including going against the brotherhood's wishes. Secondly, the only reason Layla was with Xcor was thanks to the BDB lying to her face about Thro and asking her to feed him. She thought he was a noble warrior thanks to the BDB, so when he calls to her using the blood bond to feed Xcor, she thinks she is doing good and instantly bonds and falls in love. When she finds out the truth, she tried to stay away but is in love. Even still, she still tries to be a warrior for the BDB by sacrificing her body to Xcor for his promise to never go to the compound or fight the BDB. She did everything for the BDB and they treat her like crap. Tohr, V, Quinn, even Wrath. Tohr was also so upset at Layla he almost hit her until he found out that Xcor was his brother, then he did an instant 180 and now it was okay. It wasn't okay when Layla said it was okay, only because Tohr says it is okay. And before that, Quinn and Tohr commited treason by going against the King's orders to not attack Xcor. When Layla commits treason, according to Quinn and Tohr, she should die or be imprisoned but when they do it is no big deal. Being a traitor was literally the main argument for Quinn why Layla should lose parental rights and then he becomes a traitor and it doesn't matter. And Xcor was more noble then any of the BDB. He always treated Layla kindly, unlike the BDB. I seriously hated the BDB so much in this book. Yes they have been a little old school misogynistic in the other books, but it was much smaller amounts and they turned around quickly. No this whole book is Quinn and the BDB being completely horrible. I had to renew the book 3 times from my library to finish it as I was so upset. I wish I had stopped at the last book and just imagined in my head Xcor and Layla finding a way to be together that the BDB accepted. I will never read another book in this series and so thankful I didn't spend Money on this one.

Another fantastic Malory story and great narrator!
Revisado: 11-16-20
I loved this story! The main girl was strong considering the position she was put in and held her head high. I loved the relationship between her and Derek! I also loved how you got to hear more from the whole family, including Jason's love life. You will read a lot of negative reviews about the narrator and everyone has their own opinion, but I LOVED HIM! I thought he did a great job with the emotions, the comedic timing, and different characters. He is a man, so his female voices don't sound perfectly feminine, but that is no different than a female narrator doing male voices. I think so many listeners expect it to be like listening to a movie where there are many actors, both female and male, but like most audio books, it only has one narrator, so they have to try their best to do the opposite sex voices and I think he did a fantastic job! I would definitely listen to more books narrated by him.

Great story and wonderful narrator!!!
Revisado: 05-27-20
This might be my favorite book so far in the series! The story was exciting, sensual, and fun. Loved the main characters and the brother Reese! I wished the story was twice as long as I really enjoyed all the different characters interacting, especially whenever Reese was involved. I could listen to a whole book about Reese and how he deals with his romantic life in that time.
I really enjoyed the new narrator! He did an amazing job and his Scottish accents were fantastic. His male voices, especially James and Reese are very, very sexy! Like any male narrator, his female voices aren't perfect so I understand why some of the comments were annoyed with that part, but after listening to book for a few chapters, you hardly even register that the female voices are not perfect. Many of the comments mention they would rather have the original narrator from the first two novels because her female voices were natural, but they must have forgotten her male voices weren't exactly perfect. And as a female listening to a romantic novel, I would prefer perfect sexy male voices over perfect sexy female voices. I would definitely listen to more books narrated by him.

Way better than the first book of the series!
Revisado: 05-24-20
This is the 2nd book in the series and it is extremely better than the first. You will need to read the first to understand the last book in the series, but if you can make it through that, this 2nd book will be worth it. First off, the main character is extremely more likable than the one from the first book, who was very annoying. This girl seems so much more relatable and normal. And Hugh is so sexy and smart! The plot for this story is much more entertaining as well. It's exciting and keeps you interested. I love the narrator! I think she does a great job with both female and male voices. I highly recommend this novel!

A story to listen to again and again

Liked the story, but HATE the main character!
Revisado: 05-19-20
****Spoiler alerts****
The main character understands quickly she is in the past, but belittles everyone when they don't understand or know things she speaks of, even though they are from a different time so of course they wouldn't understand it. For example she gets mad that they don't approve of her wearing jeans. Well no duh the don't approve! They are from over 100 years in the past. She could have either just agreed to wear what they approve of or said something like I know they seem strange, but I love them and will wear them. She does this belittlement throughout the story and it drives me insane!
I got really upset with her actions when throughout the entire story she constantly talks about being a strong modern woman and hates being in a time where women are still looked down on and forced to do things they don't love, but when Dory confesses her situation of being forced to marry Connor in disguise of her sister and being too scared to stop it because her father threatened to beat her and had guards to prevent her from running, Emmy gets angry at Dory and blames her! I mean are you serious?!?! You are blaming the woman for allowing the marriage like she had a choice. She was forced to marry a man she didn't want, by threat of getting beat and had guards on her the whole time to prevent her running away. Then when Dory does manage to run before the bedding, but has no where to go, she is forced to make the choice to go back to Conor's place and pretend to be herself and not the sister they think he married. And Emmy is mad at her for that as well?! She had no where to go! And in her 1800s it's not exactly like a woman can make it on her own. I find the main character to be such a hypocritical b****! I mean, what would she have done in her place. Just allow herself to get beaten?! It makes me thinks she must blame a women for getting forced into sex trafficking and say why not just run away from them? She annoyed me SO much! If it wasn't for the rest of the characters and story, I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the rest of this book. Loved Conor, Ian, and Dory.

Good story, but a few annoying issues
Revisado: 04-26-20
The story was a fun listen and the narrator is amazing!!! Does so well with women voices you forget he is a man.
My 3 issues I have are with the author.
1st, the stories are getting repetitive. A girl is being attacked (usually poisoned, shot w/ an arrow, or knocked unconscious) by some unknown person. It would be nice to see the man attacked and the girl having to save him or some other plot entirely.
2nd, STOP using the word GRIMACE! It is way overused! At least once a paragraph.
3rd, please do research on hymens. Every story the girl is a virgin and according to the author, has a hymen inside the vagina, the men can feel it when they insert something, there will be blood after the first time, and it really hurts all the girls the first time they have sex. This is such a horrible myth to spread. Hymens are a thin layer of skin at the entrance of the vagina with a hole in the middle, some hymens are almost non existent. Most women have "broken" it before sex by any physical activity or even riding a bike or horse. And most women don't feel a "break" or sharp initial pain the first time they have sex and most don't bleed the first time. Please stop writing otherwise.

Fun story; Great narrator!!!!
Revisado: 04-12-20
Another fun story by Lynsay Sands! The basic story line is a bit repetitive. Very similar to the other books in this series (I especially got vibes of the first book). I only have two big complaints. First, everyone is always getting hit on the head and getting concussed. Secondly, WAY TOO much use of the word GRIMACE. I felt like it was in every other sentence. Please learn another word. Other than those, good story.
The narrator was FANTASTIC!!! His female voices were amazing to the point where I thought one or two of them was an actual female. His natural Scottish accent was great. It took me maybe one chapter or less to get use to him. Don't listen to negative reviews about the narrator. I think they just don't like that it is another new narrator or his accent.
