I found the narration of this book to be excellent. The story itself is well written and easy to listen to.

This is such a sad story. It was interesting to get the back story on Kristin and Greg but I felt like the book started to drag a bit. It could have been an hour or so shorter.

I know Jill has received a lot of backlash for writing this book. Some people seemed to have formed an opinion that it would be a tell-all that dishes up dirt on her parents. Nothing could be further from the truth. Yes, there are some unpleasant parts about her father but, overall, she talks about her parents respectfully and it’s obvious she loves them and appreciates them.

I’m glad Jill had found her voice. I hope this book will give others the courage to look objectively at certain belief systems (IBLP for one) and realize they too can break free of the fear that binds them.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. Of course, I could listen to Kevin Pierce read the phone book. He’s the best truce crime reader. As for the story, were Champagne’s escapades in Mexico and Florida, as well as his initial rescue when he went overboard, fact checked? I just find them a bit far fetched. First off, the waters of Puget Sound are very cold. The boat would have to have been fairly close to land for Phil to survive. Then, what are the chances he would be rescued by someone who wouldn’t report to authorities that Phil was alive? I know it wouldn’t be possible to do a deep dive, given the nature of the events, but I imagine certain aspects could be verified. Overall, it’s an interesting, well written story.

I first learned about Geraldine “Gerry” Largay on an episode of Northwoods Law when she went missing. I also watched the episode where her remains were found.

Gerry seemed to have prepared well for her hike and had in fact completed around 900 miles. One simple misjudgment, getting off the trail, in a heavily wooded area in Maine, to go to the bathroom cost her her life. So many “what ifs” and “why” through my mind while listening to this book.

The book is well written and narrated. There is a lot of AT background given which those unfamiliar with the trail should find helpful.

I first discovered Carl Hiaasen’s books when “Skinny Dip” was released on Audible and I’ve been a fan ever since. Given the stressful times we are living in, “Squeeze Me” was just what I needed to lighten the mood.

With a well rounded cast of characters, including some you’ll recognize, giant pythons and a big upcoming soirée at Casa Bellicosa, Excitement is sure to follow. Carl Hiaasen has written a funny and timely book and for that, I say thank you!

I applaud Mary Trump for writing this book. It does provide insight into DJT’s younger years. The traumas he experienced as a toddler coupled with Fred Trump, Sr’s detached parenting style contributed to an adult DJT who seems incapable of caring about anyone other than himself. I just wish he could have been stopped before now. America is crashing and we don’t have a leader who can save us.

Given the title of this book, and the way the author alluded to some kind of “conspiracy” that all these musicians ended up in the canyon around the same time, I expected him to eventually tie things together. He didn’t. And, why does he throw in the part about Houdini at the end? He also writes about the death of various people as if everyone of them is “suspicious” (for example he says River Phoenix died under mysterious circumstances. No, he died from taking a speedball).

That being said, I am a child of the 60s who grew up in the San Fernando Valley. I also really enjoy most of the music from that era and the musicians mentioned. Side note: the first time I got high on pot was at a “hippie house” on Laurel Canyon Blvd and Oxnard St (I was barely 13 years old but that’s another story).

Overall, while I enjoyed hearing about the musicians who were such a huge part of my teenaged (and older) life, I feel there was an expectation set up by the author that, at least for me, wasn’t delivered.

I (for some strange reason) am a fan of true crime. I have read dozens of books, seen hundreds of TV episodes and listened to quite a few podcasts. That being said, “If You Tell” is one of the most disturbing I have encountered.

It was clear from a young age that Michelle “Shelly” Watson Knotek was a very disturbed girl. As she grew, her behaviors only worsened. When she met, and later married, David Knotek, she was finally able to live out her most destructive behaviors.

It’s amazing that her three daughters have not only been able to survive the abuse but they seemingly thrived once they left home.

*****Spoiler below*****

I find it reprehensible the Ms Knotek will be released from prison in 2022 and her husband, David, is already out of prison, having served only 15 years for his role in the murders.

Not only is David free but his two youngest daughters have been able to put behind them his role in the murders and maintain a relationship with him. That is difficult to understand.

I enjoyed “Our Little Lies”. I feel the author did a good job of building the suspense and making me curious early on. I do feel, however, that the ending was a bit incongruent given that Simon seemed to be a narcissist.

The narration was well done.
