Good book destroyed by narrator

I’m truly puzzled at why an author would have chosen this narrator. He seems to have no familiarity with the subject material whatsoever. He mispronounces at least one word every 3 minutes or so. And some of these words are so basic that it’s almost hard to believe. There are many 8th graders (not exaggerating) who would have made far less mistakes.

In addition, his voice is very whiny sounding and lacks any sort of vocal charisma, so it isn’t even like he was chosen for his voice.

The material is good, but this is some of the worst narration I’ve ever heard in an audiobook, and the publisher should be embarrassed and redo it with somebody competent.

The content is great but this guy should not have narrated his own book with a voice like this. It’s unlistenable.

The book is amazing in written form. But this narrator sounds like he only recently learned how to read. There’s no flow whatsoever. He keeps pausing after every few words in ways that are unnatural and stilted. That’s on top of having a voice that should have never gotten into narration… it’s really really really bad.

Whoever decided to make a book filled with code and to not include a PDF is beyond foolish. This book is worthless as an audiobook. Perhaps it’s better in print.

Great book, terrible narration

The narrator mispronounces so many words that it’s both comical and frustrating, and his way of reading is emotionally disconnected from contents of the book. He has a cold and serious and almost angry reading style and the book is not at all written in that tone.

It’s odd this narrator was chosen and this audiobook was released with so many errors. Was there no editor/producer overseeing the recording?

While some of the words are complex, there are numerous basic words that are mispronounced as well.

If the narrator was asked to make an audiobook of a scientific treatise, and they knew none of the scientific words, wouldn’t they either look up how to pronounce them all or decline the job if they couldn’t handle it?

Yet it seems this narrator was completely unbothered by his ignorance and proceeded to butcher the narration without pausing to look up the countless words he obviously didn’t know or understand.

The author of the book likely never gave it a “proof-listen” afterward, or it wouldn’t have been released like this.

Long story short, the content of the book is wonderful, it’s an awful narration, but if the audiobook is your only way to read it, give it a listen anyway just be prepared to practice the fruits of the spirit to get through it.

Unfortunately the narrator seems to have thought he was narrating a fictional book like the hobbit. And so he chooses to read quotations from men and from the scriptures in “voices” which are sort of like caricatures of characters he’s likely heard elsewhere.

His narration style would be good for narrating a childrens book, not for a serious text on drawing close to God through prayer.

The book itself is terrific for aspiring writers. I highly recommend buying the paperback.

This narrator speaks with a halting, jerky style. There is no flow. I’ve heard computer programs do a substantially better job of narrating like a human. My aggravation at hearing her read is far too distracting for me, and it’s difficult to get any value from the book in this format.

The narrator of this book seems as if she’s completely disconnected from what she’s attempting to read is just reading words on a page. No flow. Super choppy. It’s no exaggeration to say I’ve heard 3rd graders read text more naturally.

That being said the book is so fantastic. So it’s a real shame. Worth it to listen if you don’t have time to read the paperback or kindle version, but be forward the narration is tough to get through.

The narrator reads this book as if she was doing story time with toddlers. It’s a quiet chipper breathy voice that is completely mismatched to the material. Ruins the experience. Had to return it and just buy the paperback.

This book is nothing but a rehash of other books. The gimmicky title is the only original feature of this entire book. Also, the way the author anthropomorphizes the “Universe” comes off as childish.
