Historia
Back in the 1950s, eight young men bury a time capsule with their science fiction stories, dreaming of literary immortality. When the surviving members of that group get together for a well-publicized excavation nearly four decades later, their reunion is thrown into chaos by a surprise guest: a reportedly dead writer who threatens to expose the group's dark secrets. And when murder gets added to the agenda, it may become impossible to separate science fact from science fiction.

Not Bad
Revisado: 09-23-05
This is not science fiction. It's just fiction. The subject matter deals with science fiction, but that's as close as it gets. And I felt that the author attributed thoughts and feelings to the male character's that really don't happen. Not a bad story, but I'm glad is was a rather short piece. I don't think I could have taken a whole lot more.

Interesting Concept
Revisado: 09-23-05
Interesting concept for a book, but it never really takes off. The author spends too much time exploring Susan's past and current feelings, which are not very interesting. If I wanted to listen to a psychotherapy session, I would have been a psychologist.

Historia
For the past twenty-five years, Margaret Atwood has written works of striking originality and imagination. In The Blind Assassin, she stretches the limits of her accomplishments as never before, creating a novel that is entertaining and profoundly serious. The novel opens with these simple, resonant words: "Ten days after the war ended, my sister drove a car off the bridge." They are spoken by Iris, whose terse account of her sister Laura's death in 1945 is followed by an inquest report proclaiming the death accidental.

Nothing Like Oryx and Crake
Revisado: 07-25-03
I thought Oryx and Crake was a great story but The Blind Assassin didn't do anything for me. For a "mystery" is wasn't very mysterious and it jumps around too much giving you too many people's points of view. Some of which just don't seem to matter or fit. I also found is tedious that the parents of the main characters in both Oryx and Crake and The Blind Assassin were too similarly portrayed. I kind of wish I wouldn't have wasted my time with this one.
