The narration was a bit slow. It is great for young children; very young children.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Historia
At once profoundly personal and far-reaching, Exit Interview with My Grandmother serves as a meditation on the beginning of a young woman’s life and the series of questions that arise from examining love, loss, family, memory, and death. Moving between cities and centuries, Meyersohn probes her family's Jewish history and her grandparents' relationships in part to decipher her own young queer relationships, but also to examine how we ought to behave in the face of a world riddled with uncertainty and doubt.

Historia
Being a black woman in America means contending with old prejudices and fresh absurdities every day. Comedian Phoebe Robinson has experienced her fair share over the years: She's been unceremoniously relegated to the role of "the black friend", as if she is somehow the authority on all things racial; she's been questioned about her love of U2 and Billy Joel ("isn't that...white people music?"); she's been called "uppity" for having an opinion in the workplace; and yes, people do ask her whether they can touch her hair all. The. Time.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. Although Phoebe may consider me uppity, lolol, I could have done without all of the profanity. I laughed quite a bit; possibly because her story is relatable!!! I 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽. And, I surely hope Olivia's parents proofread the letters written to her. 🤪😂😂

I am not quite sure what I thought this would be about but, I'm glad I chose it. I guess I thought it would be a love story. In so many ways it was. I was surprised at the setting of the story. I tried to sleep after listening to a few chapters but, I found myself waking up and rewinding to the last words I remembered. Needless to say, I need a nap now. lol. I enjoyed the story. While I also enjoy the narration, the attempt to create the voices of the characters needs some work.

Remember that moment when you first encountered a character who seemed to be written just for you? That feeling of belonging remains with readers the rest of their lives - but not everyone regularly sees themselves on the pages of a book. In this timely anthology, Glory Edim brings together original essays by some of our best black women writers to shine a light on how important it is that we all - regardless of gender, race, religion, or ability - have the opportunity to find ourselves in literature.
