Left me wanting more!

Loved this storyline it gave a perfect background history of Sam Spade and flowed nicely to the end with the beginning of Maltese Falcon.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Scott Brick and his portrayal
( not merely narration) of Sam Spade. He sounded so much like Humphrey Bogart but wasn’t over the top . It was perfection and I’m going to look for more pull type stories with him as narrator!!

Good story

I did enjoy the story and it was riveting with the heroics of inspector Field( although he seems to lose or forget his gun at a couple critical moments) . But I admire his toughness and the author does give vivid picture of locations. Very good narration , I do tend to agree with another reviewer that there was a bit too much villain that could have been toned down slightly . But 4 stars is still good from my perspective 😊

Excellent plot line!

I have read all 9 of the Heathcliff Lenox series and hated for them to end!. I can’t say enough about the narrator Sam Dewhurst-Philips! His performance of Major Lenox is masterful and gives just the right amount of self absorbed humor to Lenox with his stuttering around beautiful women to his thoughts of food and missing a meal! He gives Lenox that gentry type manner with him being part of lower aristocracy and a sportsman. The different voices provided by our narrator from Gregg’s to Swift to the surly police chief inspector. I had a clear visual in my mind of all the characters, the clothing, the houses, the country side and the good! I could write more but I’ll end here by saying if I could give this series more than five stars I would! Kudos to Ms. Menuhin for her writing and hope she continues the series!!

Very entertaining storyline with interesting plot! It leaves the listener knowing there will be more to come between the Holmes-and the “professor “!

Better than expected!

I was pleasantly surprised that this pastiche offered an interesting plot in the early days of Holmes and Watson. I recommend this as it’s over 4 hours but keeps the listeners attention and entertains !

This is a better than average Holmes pastiche , although I found the story theme fascinating it was a bit murky following all the different characters and suspects. Over I gave it a 4 star rating though.

I’m not one to leave negative reviews and always try to find positive elements of a book but the constant rhyming caused me to shut off prematurely. If you appreciate poetry you may enjoy this however not continuously. Fortunately this was a free book from MX . I would not use my credit to purchase it otherwise 🤨
