Historia
After curing the Corruption plague in Fiend territory, Rob, Riardin's Rangers, and the Deserters have settled into their new home. It's given them the stability they've been striving for ever since being forced to flee The Village so many months ago. Unfortunately, their well-earned rest is cut short when a Dwarven messenger arrives, begging for assistance. The Blight has returned. And without Rob's help, Dwarven territory will fall.

Well..... those were choices.....
Revisado: 04-09-25
I was completely invested in this story even so much as cackling like a madman reading the comparatively short book 3.5 before getting into this one.
I now I have to say that in the past tense, and I'm not real happy about it. I caught a couple of the reviews early because I was curious, and I didn't quite understand what some of the meant.
I feel like the author has honestly jumped the shark and taken an interesting idea at least one step too far. I'll try not to be too spoiler-ish, but breaking world mechanics to the degree this volume did has me honestly wondering if I'm going to continue with this series or not. There have been others that angered me enough that I simply dropped the whole thing with a lot more investment in terms of money and credits spent but I really have to be honest, this one pushes my willingness to continue to say nothing of my desire to do so.
I love these characters, but the world building seems to be on shaky ground at best at this point.

Historia
Against all odds, Rob and the Deserters have survived their second encounter with the eldritch abomination–known as the Blight–only for Rob to make first contact with the gods of Elatra in a very...aggressive way. His enemies keep on piling up, and things are looking to get even tougher from here on out. If Rob and his friends want to survive their upcoming trials, they'll need to gain Levels, make new allies, and travel to the ends of the world and back again.

Historia
When quiet Orrin and his extroverted best friend, Daniel, were transported to a strange RPG-based world, not much changed between them. Daniel became a hero of legend, while Orrin remained his unobtrusive shadow. Only when they faced a particularly lethal foe did Orrin step out of his comfort zone and display his true worth—with powers he didn't know he had. Of course, Daniel got all the glory, but Orrin doesn't mind. He's just happy they're both still alive.

halfway through this thing and won't be finishing it.
Revisado: 03-07-25
Orrin is a distrusting, paranoid little weasel. He is very willing to screw others over to keep his secrets and Daniel? He's the stereotype of a well meaning jock idiot. Im glad they toned down the use of System voice, but the two main characters almost have me rooting for the monsters.... if I hadn't bought this on sale I would have been asking for my credit back by now. This book is going in the archived pile, never to be finished

the setup of the world, was half-assed, the characters all one dimensional, utterly unlikable, with the single greatest offender being the ridiculously overpowered MC. I had access to the first two books and disliked this one so severely I removed the other from my library without subjecting myself to it. Avoid this title like the waste of time that it is.

an amazing conclusion to the first volume of this trilogy. Very brutal at certain points, and I'm still a little concerned because I've been burned by books that turned out to be a little more than torture porn concerning the protagonist, but I like what I've heard so far, I love the characters, and I'm hoping that when I get to volume two and three, I'm not let down.

Historia
I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room - the royal bed-chamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how? King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic.

love the narrator as always but......
Revisado: 01-30-25
the story needs to overcome itself. it is possible to have a character that is op in nature and still be engaging, but I feel like this book struggles albeit actively not to fall into the pitfalls of the tropes it deals with. I'm intrigued and I will continue this series, but I'm not sure when just yet.

it amazes me that a story with an overpowered character can still be one that truly draws me in. there is real development with each of the characters in these stories, and I actually care about their progression both literally and in terms of how they become stronger in the level sense. I'm curious how far this is going to go, because Felix started out as just a guy trying to survive a new world to becoming something of a one-man wrecking Crew. I know the author will find ways to balance things, and so far it's been an interesting ride.

Historia
When it comes to action and adventure, every hero needs a good sidekick. Holmes has Watson, Batman has Robin, and Daniel has . . . Orrin. More like brothers than friends, they always have each other's backs. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere. Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway.

good book, but somebody needs to smack the narrator
Revisado: 01-13-25
I like the characters, I like the world building we've been given so far, I like the overall story, but whoever told the narrator to 'system voice' every still and spell etc every time the term was used needs to be beaten with a sack of hammers! It was jarring and kept taking me out of the story a bit. I really hope they knock this off. It detracts from the story.

The universe is hungry. For power. For money. For war. And—revenge. Stripping osmium from across the stars, thieves will stop at nothing to fuel the nightmarish industry of Stolen Persons, their souls locked away in chips made of the rarest metal known. Among these thieves is Helum Gauss, the visionary criminal whose empire spans a hundred worlds. But his massive corporation, BeneStar, lost—badly—to Van and the Guild, and Gauss won’t take no for an answer.

the story that caused me to walk away
Revisado: 01-08-25
I felt like the authors..... didn't know what to do with this one. Van was acting like you didn't trust his own crew to be competent through parts of it, mentally micromanaging everything. His supporting cast each somehow felt lessened by comparison to previous books, and.... there is a plot thread that is seemingly tied up in the laziest way possible given events in previous books that makes no sense whatsoever. if I had known this would be where the story would lead, I honestly wouldn't have started this series. I really liked this ones, but I'm walking.

Revisado: 12-31-24
I found this series on a whim when I was first introduced to the idea of a full cast audiobook. I have listened to it off and on over many months and collected every single dramatized audiobook in the series. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I love these performances, in regard to each and every character we get to meet. I love the music played during battles, and even the parts I find a little cheesy are still fun to shake my head at and enjoy for what they are. Reagan, Penny and Emery are each a blast (Charity and Devin are all right but I didn't connect with them nearly as much), and now I find myself wishing we could get a book about Roger. Anyway, this book and this series was a fun listen
