Historia
What if they hadn't gone? That's the question Clementine can't stop asking herself. It was just a backyard barbeque. They didn't know their hosts that well. They were friends of friends. They could so easily have said no. But she and her husband, Sam, said yes, and now they can never change what they did and didn't do that beautiful winter's day.

Hm...a little disappointing
Revisado: 09-20-16
I have fallen head over heals in love with Liane Moriatie's books Big Little Lies, What Alice Forgot , The Husband's Secret and The Hypnoist's Love Story. I listened to every book 2 times and I find them brilliant.
I was impatiently awaiting the new book, Truly Madly Guilty. I had trouble getting into the story and into the characters. I missed the twinkle of humor that used to accompany her characters. Overall i struggled because I felt that the characters of this book were more about struggle, argument and more unhappy.
Without the excellent reading of Caroline Lee and without the colorful Tiffany and Vid I dont think I would have finished this book.

Historia
Three sisters, one birthday, one little problem... The three Kettle sisters have had a mortifying mishap. Their raucous, champagne-soaked birthday dinner has come to an abrupt end following a violent argument and an emergency dash to the hospital. So who started it this time? Was it angry, hurt Cat, still recovering from the 'night of the spaghetti'? Was it Lyn, so serenely successful, at least on the outside? Or was it quirky, dreamy Gemma, the sister who can't keep a secret except for the most important one of all?

her first novel...
Revisado: 07-29-16
This is her first novel and it is not nearly as good as the following books. I read this one last and did not enjoy it much. I absolutely love all her other books! Especially 1. What Alice forgot and 2. Big little lies. In comparison with those later books, Three Wishes cant measure up.

Historia
All women want to kill their husbands some of the time. "Where there's a will, I intend to be in it", wives half-joke to each other. Marriage, it would appear, is a fun-packed frivolous hobby, only occasionally resulting in death. But when Jazz Jardine is arrested for her husband's murder, the joke falls flat. Life should begin at 40, but not with life imprisonment for killing your spouse.

Disappointing
Revisado: 07-29-16
This book was recommended by audible , I assume because I read all the books of Liane Moriarty which I loved. Hoping that this book will be somehow similar I bought it. How disappointing and tedious this book was. I did not finish it either. The only good thing about this book was the excellent narration by Caroline Lee but even this could not induce me to finish the book.
Kathy Lettes humor is not my kind of humor and I find she is trying to hard to be funny. The story line did not grab me and I lost interest after one third of the book.

I really enjoyed this book....
Revisado: 09-30-15
This is my second book by LM and like the first one I really enjoyed it.
It is very well written. The story has depth and made me think: who would I be without my memory of who I am?
LM has a witty humor and an ability to write about human emotions & thoughts so we can instantly relate and recognize ourselves.

Pirriwee Public is a beautiful little beachside primary school where children are taught that 'sharing is caring.' So how has the annual School Trivia Night ended in full-blown riot? Sirens are wailing. People are screaming. The principal is mortified. And one parent is dead. Was it a murder, a tragic accident or just good parents gone bad? As the parents at Pirriwee Public are about to discover, sometimes it's the little lies that turn out to be the most lethal.

Loved it!
Revisado: 09-06-15
I really really enjoyed this book.
First of all it was read very well and this is to me as important as the content of the book. (I cant listen to a great book that is poorly read).
Big Little Lies was a "page turner" for me and the twist in the story did catch me by surprise.
I loved all the inner dialogues of people, their hidden thoughts and feelings, so human. I most appreciated how the story includes the trivial, the funny and the more profound human fears and joys. I am about to purchase another book of the Liane and hope it is as good as this one.

Predictable
Revisado: 08-19-15
This story is a harmless account of a Maid who changes her life. Every step of the plot is predictable and there are no surprises. It lacks wit, humor, depth.....or something that would make it worthwhile hanging in to the end. I did finish it mainly because I paid for it. And yet is is well read and for the right audience it probably works....

it was ok...
Revisado: 05-28-15
I loved the first half of this book and thought i made a great choice. It was funny and engaging, and it had depth. But as the story progressed it seemed to get more shallow and predictable. It was very well read throughout.
I am not sure if I would try another one of Marian Keyes- maybe.

well written but hard work
Revisado: 05-20-15
I first read Jojo's book "Me before you" and I absolutely loved it. Excited about my discovery I bought my second book "One Plus One" and it did not work for me. It is very well written and extremely well read, but the overall story is hard work and such a downer until almost the end. There is only so much misfortune I like to listen to....While "Me before You" also deals with misfortune it seemed to have more wit and humor in between to lift you up.
In One Plus One it starts off with quirky characters and humor but it gets pretty soon lost and the story became hard work as it dragged from discomfort to discomfort....
However it is very well written and the reading is excellent.
I loved "Me before You" and highly recommend it....but I am uncertain now if I want to buy another Jojo Moyes book.

disappointing....
Revisado: 01-05-13
I am a Ruth Rendell fan and i was looking forward to this book. It left me disappointed and I am not even entirely sure why. She introduced lots of colorful characters and yet they did remain remote and inaccessible. There are no surprises in the plot, no mystery, no unexpected turn of events - what happens is predictable.
I have recently read an earlier Ruth Rendell book : Adam and Eve and Pinch Me. I enjoyed it. It was clever, interesting, and full of colorful characters who you became to know intimately. In many ways the Saint Zita Society seems to be a less successful remake of this earlier book - just a handful of new people, a new location....
