Historia
Celebrating her forty-fifth birthday at her local pub, popular podcaster Alix Summer crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her forty-fifth birthday. They are, in fact, birthday twins. A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alix’s children’s school. Josie has been listening to Alix’s podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.

Truly, brilliantly written!
Revisado: 08-26-23
I can't imagine what it would be like to sit down with a hard copy of this book, but the audiobook was brilliant! Lovers of psychological thrillers and true crime podcasts will both love this book(I'm a big fan of both)! I had hard time "putting it down!" Highly recommend listening!

Historia
Can’t Hurt Me, David Goggins’ smash hit memoir, demonstrated how much untapped ability we all have but was merely an introduction to the power of the mind. In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Interesting, but drags in the beginning
Revisado: 08-11-22
I found the main character, Kya, extremely interesting. However the book drags a lot in the beginning. I'm still not really sure what all the hype about this book is about. Once the trial begins, the book does pick up some, and I even welled up with tears when the verdict was read. The best part about this audiobook was the narrator! Cassandra Campbell did an amazing job! She's what kept me intrigued in the story!

Historia
A shocking double-murder scene greets Detective Inspector Philip Brennan when he is called to a flat in Colchester. Two women are viciously cut open and laying spread-eagled, one tied to the bed, one on the floor. The woman on the bed has had her stomach cut into and her unborn child is missing. But this is the third time Phil and his team has seen such an atrocity. Two other pregnant women have been killed in this way and their babies taken from them. No one can imagine what sort of person would want to commit such horrible crimes.

5 Stars all around!
Revisado: 05-24-21
So many twists and turns, you're not sure which is up and which is down; which is left and which is right! For the longest time I thought to myself, "How on earth is this all going to relate?!" Oh but Carver does it, and does it in a way you won't see coming! And Mark Meadows did a phenomenal job narrating this story! Perfect inflection! 5 Stars all around, no matter which direction they may be going!

Interviews at the end changed my opinion
Revisado: 07-29-20
I found THE APARTMENT a little boring at times. For a psychological thriller, I didn't feel like there was enough of a "thrill." I still wonder about the backstory of Lewis and Freya and how Lewis dies and I feel like the ending is a bit rushed, but overall the story was alright. I enjoyed the performer, Tuppence Middleton. She did a great job with all of her female parts, and while I know that male parts for female performers can be difficult, I felt like she did a good job of knowing that she, herself, can't extract a low tone, so instead drew the voice out to narrate the difference between male and female. (John Chancer's voice was perfect for the voice of John B. Watson's recordings; exactly what I would expect!) But I have to say, listening to the interviews at the end of this Audible Original is what made me give to book an overall higher rating. I always enjoy getting to know the author (and performer) more - I guess I'm a lot like K.L. Slater in that sense - and hearing their backstories and their methods to their work made me want to read/listen to more of their stuff. The interviews gave me an insight into a both of their world's that I never would have known, and a deeper understanding and appreciation for all they do. I would listen to both of their works again just because of that!

Revisado: 01-27-20
FAR FROM THE TREE is a beautiful story. It touches the heart in so many ways. I rooted for each of these kids and celebrated each of their victories. I cried, I laughed and I got angry right along side of them! Robin Benway knows how to tell a story with beautiful imagery. Very happy I read this book!

Narrated by a robot?
Revisado: 12-03-19
The story was your traditional cheesy romance. Boy meets girl next door and falls in love. Throw some winter sexual innuendos in there and you've got this version. But really the story didn't bother me. I enjoy a good cheese ball romance every once in a while. The thing that got me was the narrator. I'm still not sure if it was a real person or Siri narrating. If I could do it over, I'd buy the hard copy before listening to IF I HAD YOU.

Historia
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Couldn't stop listening to The Song of Achilles!
Revisado: 08-17-19
I have reservations reading books about mythology because they can be so boring, but Madeline Miller's The Song of Achilles never bored me. I began listening to it on my hour drive to work, and found myself thinking of it all day. I was itching to get in the car for my commute home. Even once there I couldn't stop listening. There is mythology and history, love and betrayal, battles and childhood fun. TSoA has a little bit of everything. TSoA is the story of great Achilles with enough human touch to make the story enjoyable as well as teachable.
