Historia
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

What a surprisingly delightful book this turned out to be! I enjoyed it very much, from the subtle, witty humor to the purposefully incredulous adventures. I loved the narration as well 😄

Historia
Twenty-eight florins a month is a huge price to pay for a man to stand between you and the Wild. Twenty-eight florins a month is nowhere near enough when a wyvern's jaws snap shut on your helmet in the hot stink of battle, and the beast starts to rip the head from your shoulders. But if standing and fighting is hard, leading a company of men - or worse, a company of mercenaries - against the smart, deadly creatures of the Wild is even harder. It takes all the advantages of birth, training, and the luck of the devil to do it.

Decent story, poorly written.
Revisado: 04-05-21
Not a bad story, men vs the wild/demons/monsters so nothing we haven’t seen a thousand times. Just poorly written with plot holes you can drive a truck through. Try not to write spoilers, bad guy can take power from his underlings by killing them but doesn’t bother to do it when it would help- but he’ll send those same troops into suicide missions. The good guys can ride through the woods, through the Wild’s territory to end up some place convenient at the exact right time, no explanation as to why the wild, ruler of the woods doesn’t catch him. The main hero goes from never using magic to an absolute master, better than the guy using it for 50 years- by the way, he’s also the best fighter and best tactician, knows exactly the motives of everyone around him and doesn’t make a single major mistake despite his youth and inexperience. So he’s just the best at everything. Game of Thrones, name of the wind, anything written by Brandon Sanderson, Lightbringer series- all orders of magnitude better. I will not be finishing the series even if I did finish the book just to see if it got better- it doesn’t

So touching, insightful, and Relevant! This author obviously spends many hours researching her topics and then puts together a story of live, family, community, and characters that make you wish Edenville existed and you could live there. Beautifully done!

A mystery, a sweet live story without raunchy sex scenes or 4-letter filth, but an intriguing story line that kept me guessing until the end and I listened to it in one day. Keep them coming Danielle!

She keeps getting better and better!
Revisado: 02-11-17
Since I discovered my first Danielle steel book I have read - or listened to - everything she has written and each one becomes my new favorite. Until the next book or series comes out. As I have come to expect with Danielle Stewart books, this one has it all: sweet romance, some spice (without filling every other page with a gratuitous sex scene), intelligent dialogue between the characters, and intrigue and suspense to keep you guessing. Yes this one has a cliffhanger at the end but she's turning books out so quickly that books 3 and 4 were available on audible by the time that I got done with this one so there was no wait to find out what happens to the characters. (Audible, we need All of Danielle Steele's books recorded so that I can listen to them while I do my housework! 😊 )

Revisado: 06-28-15
Great book, such as it was. But Nowhere did I see a disclaimer that this 16 hour book was a Small portion of their story. I don't mind an occasional cliff hanger if I know up front and it's my choice to make whether I want to wait a month or a year - or Never - for the next part. I feel ripped off!
