I really liked this book! It was cool to have the main characters in a unique career: yacht charter crew. I do love a second chance romance trope, and this was so well done. It was fun to hear Ollie’s text in an Irish accent too. I would definitely recommend this book for a light, fun, summery read.

This was a cute, quick read. The main thing that bugged me while listening was that the main character seemed to irrationally hate Jack. Her hatred ran so deep. It didn’t feel like her it was realistic (or justified), especially when we find out why she hates Jack. It simply seemed too flimsy a reason. For me, it was hard to stay immersed in the book when I kept thinking how unrealistic her internal monologue was.

Witty Banter at its Best!

The banter between the two main characters was so well done! I was obsessed with them from the start. Of course this was fairly predictable, but in all the best ways. Julia’s narration was also phenomenal. I definitely would recommend this to someone looking for a fun love story that ties in real life issues.

Did I read the same book as everyone else?!

Of the 11 hours that I spent listening to this book on audible, I wish that the author could have cut out an entire hour of physical descriptions of Adam’s body. We get it, he’s ripped. Why can’t we have a book that doesn’t put so much stock into a character’s “perfect” physical appearance?! While Adam was working out to get so large, Olive’s main form of exercise must have been jumping to conclusions. Her internal monologue of being so insecure got old real fast. Clearly the character had no self confidence whatsoever. It was truly frustrating to listen to her come up with idea after idea of why she wasn’t desirable, why Adam must like someone else, why she couldn’t tell Adam she liked him…and on and on. The plot of this book had potential, but missed the mark by a long shot. It gave me major Hating Game vibes: everyone else seemed to love reading it, but I couldn’t get passed the incessant descriptors of “perfect” physiques, and an annoying main character.

Interesting premise. A tad slow.

I liked this book well enough. I definitely had high expectations, and it didn’t quite reach them. I liked having a story that explored the challenges that are experienced in marriage. And the romantic in me liked the ending. It just was a little slow in getting there. Normally I cruise through books pretty quickly, but this one took me longer because I didn’t feel super compelled to keep coming back for more.

Cute but predictable

This was a cute story, but kind of flat and predictable. I had high hopes for a plus size main character, and I liked some of the components to that side of the story, but it just wasn’t enough to make it more compelling. I found myself zoning out while listening, and then not going back to hear what I missed. Three stars.

Cute and Corny

If you are looking for a fun read with a little spice and a corny HEA, this is a good one. I liked how both characters showed development and growth by the end of the book. I liked the strong female lead, and the home renovation tie ins. All in all, would recommend!

Such a fun story

I really liked this story! It was such a unique and fun concept. For a while, I really didn’t know how it was going to resolve. The only reason I didn’t give five stars was because the actual falling in love of Leo and Nora seemed rushed. Loved the ending!

Decent but long

I liked this book well enough. Small town, everyone knows everyone, grumpy/sunshine, fake dating all wrapped into one. My problems with the book- One: Knox was too grumpy. The first half of the book he seemed unrealistically, and unnecessarily grumpy, and truly mean. Two: I strongly disliked that Naomi only did things to please other people (ex. Knox comes to Naomi to sleep with her. Her internal monologue “he needed this, and I lived to be needed”….barf). There were a few other problematic things sprinkled throughout the book. All in all, it was pretty good, but not great.

Such a fun read!

I loved this book. It was the perfect summer read. I also loved that it was a bodyguard trope, but with a female as the guard, rather than the woman being the one needing protection.
