I couldn't finish it
Revisado: 03-21-25
I've read a previous book by Kevin O'Brien and really liked it. I had high hopes for this one. once I understood the premise of the story I started to not really be very intrigued because a lot of it sounds like superficial drama that I am not really interested in listening to. I wanted to listen to this book because of the mystery but it's full of 'the other woman' type of drama. Honestly, I don't like any of the characters. The main character makes bad decisions and continues making bad decisions. The man is a scumbag. And his wife is annoying and petty AF (But can I really blame her?). Sorry if I spoiled it for anyone but I just can't really get on board with this kind of premise for a mystery book. feels like too much high school drama.

I'm surprised that a free book could be this good
Revisado: 03-17-25
this book turned out to be really great. It is full of so many twists and turns and I could never come up with a theory that held water. I loved the narration and I felt like I was being manipulated to believe certain things which really speaks to the author's abilities as a writer. I love the different points of view and being able to see in the minds of all these different characters. this book was just fascinating. I will probably read it again and I want to find other books by this author. highly recommend ⭐

too much internal dialogue
Revisado: 12-11-24
I really liked the first book. I was sure that I'd like this one. it started off good, but halfway through I was having trouble keeping my attention on the mystery. the MC would give soooo many details about everything and I couldn't remember much about the actual plot of the story. I feel like the murder took a backseat to the day to day life of the MC and I found that boring and unnecessary. the MC would provide so much internal dialogue about things that didn't seem important to the plot at all. I couldn't finish it :(
