Best one yet of the series
Revisado: 11-07-19
It took me a long time to start listening to these books that they had been recommended to me several years ago. I purchased my first one about three weeks ago and I have been binge listening ever since. I have really enjoyed the novelty of these books. I like how Harry Dresden isn’t all good. He has just enough bad so that sometimes things don’t quite go the way you think they should. I also am appreciating Harry’s growth through the books. He is learning from his experiences and becoming stronger and hopefully wiser.
I did not anticipate several of the twists and turns of the story. This book especially was a great ride and I am purchasing the next one right after I finish this review.

Tough to get through
Revisado: 06-18-16
The story was obvious and slow to build suspense. I put down this book for months before I finished it and was still bored by it. I did like the characters though and will listen to the next book

Historia
Five years ago, the mysterious and inscrutable head of Effective Engineering Solutions, Eli Glinn, led a mission to recover a gigantic meteorite - the largest ever discovered - from a remote island off the coast of South America. The mission ended in disaster when their ship, the Rolvaag, foundered in a vicious storm in the Antarctic waters and broke apart, sinking - along with its unique cargo - to the ocean floor. One hundred and eight crew members perished, and Eli Glinn was left paralyzed.

Good but short
Revisado: 05-21-16
Good book it answers questions from previous book. I like all the character development. It feels slightly rushed and could have been fleshed out.
I returned it because this version randomly fades out or just turn off at odd moments

Historia
Nobody knew where it came from. Nobody knew why it came. When an eight-foot-tall man made of stone appears in the middle of a busy city center one July afternoon, two-bit (and antisocial) reporter Andy Pointer assumes it's just a publicity stunt. Indeed, so does everyone else...until the Stone Man begins to walk, heading silently through the wall of the nearest building, flattening it, and killing several people inside as a result.

This is really good
Revisado: 05-01-16
The story is engaging right from beginning.
The narrator is British and very good-- I didn't ever get tired of his voice.
Other reviewers have said there is no ending to this book but I found it very appropriate.
I couldn't stop listening and finished the book in two days.

Revisado: 04-28-16
I've read many of Preston and Childs' books and they are fascinating reads. This one is good but really didn't hold me. I knew the end after the first chapter.

I couldn't put it away. Great narration
Revisado: 08-07-15
the story captured me quickly and Jack Davenport did a masterly job of narration. I'd buy more books just to hear his voice. The mystery kept me guessing. Very much like Dan Brown but with less gore and more humanity.

Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

Whiny
Revisado: 06-08-15
The idea behind this book was interesting than enough that I actually listen to the first audible the innocent mage, And the second one. However, the awakened mage got so tiresome so quickly. The main character wines his way through the entire book. In fact it's so bad that I almost wish he would lose the magical battle at the end of the book just so I can have a brief moment of joy that he was no longer whining.
Also the ideas never well fleshed out The book reads for 20 hours before the final climax happens. the final climax is very brief, very underwhelming, very predictable.

Worst performance I've ever heard
Revisado: 07-04-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I think the content is very good, but Joel Richards narration is so annoying i can't focus on the information. Joel reads with very little inflection and an odd cadence. This narration sounds like it is being done by a first grader learning to read out loud
How could the performance have been better?
Have anyone else do it
