Historia
When he signed up for a psychedelic retreat run by a mysterious Argentine woman deep in Brazil’s rainforest in early 2018, Ernesto Londoño, a veteran New York Times journalist, was so depressed he had come close to jumping off his terrace weeks earlier. His nine-day visit to Spirit Vine Ayahuasca Retreat Center included four nighttime ceremonies during which participants imbibed a vomit-inducing plant-based brew that contained DMT, a powerful mind-altering compound.

Historia
When, at age forty-six, Nancy Pelosi, mother of five, asked her youngest daughter if she should run for Congress, Alexandra Pelosi answered: “Mother, get a life!” And so Nancy did, and what a life it has been. In The Art of Power, Pelosi describes for the first time what it takes to make history—not only as the first woman to ascend to the most powerful legislative role in our nation, but to pass laws that would save lives and livelihoods, from the emergency rescue of the economy in 2008 to transforming health care.

Powerful and exciting

I was transfixed by the historical and momentous look back at the history I lived and experienced. Filled with behind the scenes details that explain actions at the time. Well done! It is American political history as I remembered it.

Historia
In 1955, an American farming couple saw a film about the thousands of Korean children orphaned by the Korean War. Through a special act of Congress, they were authorized to adopt eight of these children - which marked the advent of international adoption. Since that time, there have been over 170,000 children adopted out of Korea to more than 30 countries. Korean adoptee Glenn Morey and his wife, Julie Morey, spent six years interviewing 100 Korean adoptees from around the world. This stunning Audible Original is comprised of 15 first-person accounts....

Very enlightening POV
Revisado: 05-09-21
I knew very little about the Korean adoptees and found thus very helpful in broadening my perspective about the range of responses snd lives lived as a transnational adoptee. In light of the current API racial violence and distinctly different life experiences of people of Asian descent, this book was another step in differentiating the diversity of “the Asian experience”

Fabulous work! Really enjoyed Say it Louder, an exploration of Black & POC voices in media and its impact on the day to day lives of all Americans but especially POC. Cross’ narrative starts self centered and provides an excellent framework to widened and sharpen the lens of media in contemporary American. Cross is knowledgeable, insightful and direct.
