Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. My favorite book of all time!
Revisado: 02-04-09
I have read this book at least three times and still greatly enjoyed listening to it. The narrator is excellent. I was concerned that hearing someone read the book would conflict with the way I pictured and heard it in my head. Not so! It was marvelous. I let myself be carried away in the lifes of Jamie and Claire.

Historia
The newly-married couple welcome the doomed queen into their home, certain that serving as her hosts and jailers will bring them an advantage in the cutthroat world of the Elizabethan court. To their horror, they find that the task will bankrupt them, and as their home becomes the epicenter of intrigue and rebellion against Elizabeth, their loyalty to each other and to their sovereign comes into question.

Not up to usual standards
Revisado: 12-16-08
I have read all of Ms Gregories books about the Tudor family and I was disappointed in this one. I had wondered for years about Mary Queen of Scots but I had trouble being very interested in this. It was easy to start and stop not coming back for weeks at a time. I felt that there was very little history involved and didn't learn anything about Mary. Will think before getting another book like this.

I can see a series developing
Revisado: 12-16-08
I read this authors first book and really enjoyed it. When I read the excerpt at the back for this title, I knew that I had to read or listen to it. This narrator was excellent. The scottish burr very authentic. Lexi/Cassie was a lovable and very interesting character. I really hope that there is another book about her soon.

Historia
In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

Carried away to another time!
Revisado: 10-27-08
I loved this book. While it took me about an hour to become totally hooked, from then on I could hardly stop listening. The narrator was so good I could see each character as he changed voices. Caris and Merthyn are such lovable characters you want to know them better and better. The ending was perfect!

Historia
In the spring of 1974, Calliope Stephanides, a student at a girls' school in Grosse Pointe, finds herself drawn to a chain-smoking, strawberry-blonde classmate with a gift for acting. The passion that furtively develops between them - along with Callie's failure to develop physically - leads Callie to suspect that she is not like other girls. In fact, she is not really a girl at all.

Hated to come to the end.
Revisado: 07-24-08
This book totally captured my attention. From the first sentence.."I was born twice" to the final "excited for what was to come" I was drawn into the world of the Stephanadese(?). Callie was so likable, you really cared. Even the somewhat taboo subject of incest was handled in a sensitive manner by making it understandable and the characters likable. The narrator was wonderful. The way he changed his voice for different characters and even had accents kept me waiting for the next chapter. I would recommend this book for anyone with a good attention span.
