Historia
Behind the tall, foreboding gates of a commune in Brazil, Daniella Mestyanek Young was raised in the religious cult The Children of God, also known as The Family, as the daughter of high-ranking members. Her great-grandmother donated land for one of The Family’s first communes in Texas. Her mother, at thirteen, was forced to marry the leader and served as his secretary for many years. Beholden to The Family’s strict rules, Daniella suffers physical, emotional, and sexual abuse—masked as godly discipline and divine love—and is forbidden from getting a traditional education.

intense and powerful
Revisado: 01-26-25
I first learned about Daniella on TikTok, where she gives very insightful and well educated views on feminism/the sociopolitical climate of modern America. So I decided to listen to her book and was not disappointed.
I found her life story to be power full and inspiring. As a woman who has also spent a lifetime deconstructing religion, I will always hold this story near and dear to my heart.

I liked the descriptive writing style which made it easy to stay engaged in this novel. It kept my interest throughout the book. The ending was not anticipated which I really enjoyed! I would definitely recommend this book for an exciting read!! I would say more but I don’t want to give away any spoilers.

Historia
Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Historia
Fear is primal. Instinctive. Unavoidable. And right now, there is something you fear - and you can feel it. Creeping up behind you. Lurking in the darkness that lives under your bed, or in your closet. A nameless dread. In Undercurrents: An Anthology of What Lies Beneath, 23 talented authors, including New York Times best sellers Kevin J. Anderson, Rebecca Moesta, and Jody Lynn Nye, have stood on the shores of their psyches and looked out over the ocean of possibility and wondered "What lies beneath?"

Great Aquatic Short Stories
Revisado: 08-12-19
I loved the diversity of short stories contained in this collection! My favorite story was "Teens Teach Tech" by Terry Madden, I listened to this story twice. I thought that Charles Kahlenberg was a great narrator but I was not as happy with Carla Harkness, I felt her narration reading was too slow and lacked in a dramatization. Overall, there were some excellent stories and some that were not so great, but I have found this to be true with any short story collection that I have purchased. I do recommend this book to anyone thinking about buying it, I really enjoyed listening to it!

Historia
Wayétu Moore’s powerful debut novel, She Would Be King, reimagines the dramatic story of Liberia’s early years through three unforgettable characters who share an uncommon bond. Gbessa, exiled from the West African village of Lai, is starved, bitten by a viper, and left for dead, but still she survives. June Dey, raised on a plantation in Virginia, hides his unusual strength until a confrontation with the overseer forces him to flee. Norman Aragon, the child of a white British colonizer and a Maroon slave from Jamaica, can fade from sight when the earth calls him.

Revisado: 10-11-18
The narrator was fantastic! I am an artist and I listened to this book while I was on the gulf coast which added a lot to the book for me.
It seemed a little slow in the beginning of the book, but like other Steven King books I have read, once the story gets going you can't stop listening.

Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

Steven King never disappoints
Revisado: 06-01-18
The book is much better than the movie, as usually is the case. I love how well Steven King's characters are developed. Being inside the character's minds is truly what makes this such a great book. I could not stop listening and finished it quickly.
The reader did a great job but it took me several chapters to get used to him. I listened to another book he read that I did not like and I think that affected my opinion.

Average zombie book but a great ending
Revisado: 02-02-18
What did you like best about this story?
I thought the ending was thought provoking.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I felt that the narrator was so so. I could hear some errors.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reaction. It was an average zombie story.
Any additional comments?
I felt it ended too fast after the plot just began to get good. It could have been longer and it would have been better. I gave 4 stars because I really liked the ending.

Historia
All good things must come to an end, Constant Listener, and not even Stephen King can write a story that goes on forever. The tale of Roland Deschain's relentless quest for the Dark Tower has, the author fears, sorely tried the patience of those who have followed it from its earliest chapters. But attend to it a while longer, if it pleases you, for this volume is the last, and often the last things are best.
