Retire This Storyline

I barely recall the premise to be honest. It was lackluster and under developed. There was never a point in the story while listening that I felt enraptured. Beyond the synopsis the storyline doesn’t arch much. There is no red herring. Who you think did it. Did it. And the additional baby to the Bennett family is just ludicrous. There really wasn’t any depth here or anything noteworthy or twisty psych thrilling about this. This book was oatmeal.

I was so excited to see this book but it really fell flat in many areas. Most important to denote that there are many children of Ogun or devotees who will easily be able to tell that this does not resonate for them unless you practice Afro Caribbean variations of Spirituality. That’s who this book is really written for. Especially with the author last name being Silva. There is a lot of generic information about Alaafin Ogun and then there is some specific info shared but again it does not align with Youruba Igbo Isese practice and school of thought for Ogun. For instance this book says oguns colors are red and black. However within IFA we know baba Ogun by greens (brown) black. Also this book gives advice that you might be able to determine if Ogun is your baba by personality traits and that is spiritually irresponsible in that a qualified babalawo or Iyanifa should perform divination to determine the Orisa who has your head. This book gives enough info to make one dangerous with a sort of skewed interpretation of generic basic facts around this Orisha but not all are correct and some statements should be qualified with additional supporting disclaimers or statements so that someone learning won’t make grave mistakes to offend Spirit. I regret this purchase and forced through listening to much of it.

Twisty Thriller

The ending became a bit too convoluted but this was an entertaining read and great audio performances drew me in.

Couldn’t Finish

I still have no idea what this book is about. Not only was it boring it was proverbial NyQuil. I would immediately fall asleep as soon as it became playing. Mayberry did more pontificating and sliding his political and societal viewpoints in than he did writing. I hated this book and I usually buy without reading the synopsis because of the author but I will just stick with the Ledger series and decline other works from this author.

Tons of tech difficulties

I think large parts of the story didn’t make sense because the book kept skipping and jumping. There would be portions of chapter repeating so many times I had to close and reopen the app. Still u sure who the culprit was.

Toooooo Fantastical For Me

I’m an avid lover all things King and this one just really sucked majorly. Although as a young girl I never lied fairytales.
This should have been much better. All your fave fairytales gone horror.. I was stoked. But it fell short because the storyline was whack. I couldn’t get into it even though the narrator did an amazing job bringing Charlie to life. Didn’t like it.

Narrator was just the absolute worst. I don’t recall the story at all because I was so distracted by his narrating. I hate when narrators make their voice shake while talking as if that’s supposed to convey emotion. It just made him sound like a sheep lol So over the top ridiculous. Save your credit.

Stephen King Rip Off

This is basically the same exact storyline (supernatural) as Stephen Kings The Outsider. And James don’t do it again. Not only was it so outside of his realm it wasn’t believable nor was I drawn in the way I am with a King piece. I couldn’t follow the storyline in some parts because I tuned out and lost focus because some excerpts were so foolish.
