Fast paced light small town thriller love
Revisado: 09-22-24
Hyde is consistent in her writing small town thrillers, connecting characters, Midwest charm and humor, in a quick engaging storyline that keeps me interested and surprised but not completely horrified. I love it! This one is great to read at the start of fall. All her books are perfect if you love suspense but are maybe a highly sensitive person HSP who could do without tons of gore. This series did not disappoint.

As a fan of An absolutely remarkable thing and a wonderfully foolish endeavor as well as Lock In, I think you’ll like this book if you also enjoyed those. Mystery and intrigue, not quite on the edge of the seat but still kept me wondering. One of my favorite narrators!

Historia
When Eddie Huang found out Tom Hanks had COVID, he made a split-second decision to cop a flight to Taipei. It was in the thick of the pandemic, before we had much information at all besides to mummify ourselves and cry in a corner of our bedrooms listening to James Blake if we wanted to survive. All Eddie wanted was to get in his room, order room service, and enter a 30-day dumpling coma—after which, he figured, this whole thing would be over.

Descriptive tender necessary
Revisado: 10-27-22
While Lucy Liu was not the voice for this imo, the book gave beautiful and raw look into how taking children for political reasons affects families and society. The best part was Celeste’s notes at the end. I loved learning about it and especially seeing the city from the kids perspective. The narration felt overly dramatic in that it was all long pauses with the same tone. Also I alway huddle a good narration voice on my ability to hear the book on my speaker in the shower, not great for this one.

Enjoyable, spooky, needed more
Revisado: 10-07-22
I liked the flow, the performance, the spook factor for an Autumn/Halloween book, I couldn’t guess the ending, but it felt a little flat. I needed more character relationships intertwined and it would have been fantastic! It’s worth a listen, not too scary, can’t decide if I’ll relisten seasonally yet like I do the practical magic series or not…

Historia
Whether she’s playing an “age-defying” book editor on television or dazzling audiences on the Broadway stage, Sutton Foster manages to make it all look easy. How? Crafting. From the moment she picked up a cross stitch needle to escape the bullying chorus girls in her early performing days, she was hooked. Cross stitching led to crocheting, crocheting led to collages, which led to drawing, and so much more. Channeling her emotions into her creations centered Sutton as she navigated the significant moments in her life and gave her tangible reminders of her experiences.

A good perspective on life, some gore
Revisado: 11-12-21
It was interesting, not quite what I expected, good plot turns, a love story of course more than anything else, a bit too much gore and terror for my taste (which is basically none haha). It’s worth a listen.

Unique, superstitious, interesting teen drama
Revisado: 10-05-21
First, love Tara Sands as narrator! Amazing as always. Loved Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal too. This one is darker. A great novel for Halloween with spooks and fears for those who do not want to be truly terrified. Loved the costumes that the main character wears. Also enjoyed the bouncing between the grandfathers story and the teens. Didn’t realize it would develop into such a mental health story, but that was a good surprise, well-written. Could be triggering for suicidal issues. It was creepy but not scary.
