Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

Michael York should stick to the stage and leave narration to the pros.

Unhappy story plot but very well written and read
Revisado: 11-08-17
I am not much of a fan of sci-fi, so the beginning of this book was a struggle with the whole idea of the lack of freedom to be born however we will be born, but nevertheless I continued to listen to it till the very end.
It not only made me appreciate how creatively well written was the subject matter as well as very well read, but towards the end I could see why the human race could potentially end up in a world like the one described in the book.
I have to admit though that the self inflicted torture passages did not improve the book at all, just as I find them completely unnecessary in movies.

Historia
Some might wonder how Martha could have clung to hope at all. In 1948, on the day of the funeral of her adored older brother, Gaston, a quick victim of the great polio epidemic, Martha was struck with the same dreaded disease. After a year in polio hospitals, she was sent back to her home in the village of Lattimore in the cotton-growing hills of western North Carolina. She was completely paralyzed, with only her head protruding from an 800-pound yellow metal cylinder that breathed for her.

Not really inspiring for a self help book
Revisado: 12-24-16
Would you try another book from Martha Mason and/or Catherine Byers?
Well written, not nicely read and it turned out to be a biography of someone unknown, rather than an inspiring self help book,
By the way, the Part 2 is a repetition of Part 1 !!!
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator's style of reading was not to my liking.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment from it not being an inspiring book, but rather a narration of someone unknown's life.
Any additional comments?
Eliminate Part 2 because it is a repetition of Part 1 !!!

I learned that Burt Reynolds is a great guy
Revisado: 06-08-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this audiobook to people interested in knowing a little bit about a lot of different people.
What was one of the most memorable moments of But Enough About Me?
When Burt talked more about his own life and upbringing, rather than talking about so many other people.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Burt Reynolds?
I would have recommended Burt Reynolds to have had a different person read his memoir, because I could barely understand what he was saying due to how his vocal chords sounded.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I enjoy listening to audiobooks daily while I cook our daily meals.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed getting to know that Burt Reynolds happens to be a great person, I just wish I could have understood more clearly what he was saying.
