Historia
In 1922, Count Alexander Rostov is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, and is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery.

Give kit a Chance
Revisado: 08-18-23
I read a couple of reviews before I started the book. that mentioned that they almost stopped reading. This helped me to keep reading. The beginning is so choppy and dry. But about 10 minutes into the story it becomes interesting, very interesting. I am glad that I gave it a chance.

I gave now read 3 of joy Ellie's books. I enjoy her writing although it has become somewhat predictive. Interesting that the performance is gender neutral.

Octavia Butler wrote well beyond her time.
Revisado: 12-10-22
I have been an Octavia Butler fan since the mid-1980's. Her work is captivating intelligent and unpredictable. She writes with intensity and insight. Writing a story similar to Kindred , Parable of the Sower are typical and acceptable literature now. She presented her stories to us decades ago. I honor and appreciate those who are reviving her body of work.
I had a hard time with the narrator. It did not seem that her tone and intonation fit the story. Eventually I got accustomed to her and just settled down and enjoyed listening to Kindred.
