I am a Suzan Tisdale fan. This is the the sixth of her books I have read or listened to. If Ian's Rose had not been narrated by ❤️Brad Wills❤️l would never have finished it. There was just no plot. It's not easy for me to say this because I usually really enjoy Ms. Tisdale. I will continue to buy and read her books.

Two names: Kathryn Le Veque & Brad Wills.
Perfect together every time. This was a wonderfully desk and moody story.

I love Kinsale the author. I love Boulton the reader. Enjoyed every moment of the audible book.

Narrator Erin Jones did a good job with her reading of Lord of the Sea. I was over half way into the book before I could get comfortable. You see, I had just finished two Danelle Harmon books narrated by Wayne Farrell who played the most sultry, sexy heroes ever. I fell in love with his voice. I quickly bought Lord of the Sea without even checking who recorded it.

I bought the audio because of the narrator Derrick Perkins. He is one of the best! Toran is the hero in this book....a young, sexy, brawny Highland laird. But for Toran, Perkins' voice was much too gruff and old sounding. That kept Toran from being the dreamy, sexy, love sick character that Blair wrote. From Perkins, I expect only the best so I only gave the performance three stars, average. The story line was adequate but not exceptional. I will give Blair and Perkins more chances.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I loved the flawed, strong, vulnerable hero. I loved the story. The narrator was excellent. THEN about 2/3 through the narration, I heard a lisp....and it was in all the characters. It was distracting. After about thirty minutes, it went away. I am looking for similiar book read by Napoleon Ryan, he is excellent. I don't know where the heck that lisp came from.

The reader irritated me

The affected voices used by this narrator irritated me to the point of stopping after the fifth chapter. The intonation she used is normally used for pompous elderly dowagers and dukes, but she used them for the main characters. I just could not imagine romance between people who talk like that. I'm going to try to get my money back. Buyer beware.

I am a huge Kathryn Le Veque fan having read 12-15 of her novels and listened to almost that many in audible form. The THUNDER LORD followed her usual formula and then improved upon it. To me, this novel contained more history than most Le Veque novels and I loved it. I don't throw around my stars lightly so consider this a AAA+ rating.

I have read at least a dozen of Kathryn Le Veque's novels and they are consistently wonderful. That being said......when they are read by Brad Wills, they are magical.

What disappointed you about Celtic Viking?

Did I just say novel? Celtic Viking seemed to be prologue for a romantic novel. It was just the opening set up which stopped abruptly before the main characters actually met.

What could Lexy Timms have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Historical? Not even close. To make this worth reading, Ms. Timms could have done some research. There were so many inaccuracies that just listing them would be longer than the "novel." The writer had no ninth grade concept of ninth century Britain or Vikings. Example: Throughout, she referred to the Vikings as Celts. Please tell me there was no editor.

What does Hugh Loughlan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hugh Loughlan is the only thing that makes Celtic Viking bearable. The ebook was free and that was a misrepresentation because one was lead to believe it was a book. I bought the Whispersync audible, and thank goodness I did. Loughlan's rich voice took a sad attempt at a historical romance and made is enjoyable. Actually, with his deep, rich brouge, Loughlan could make the phone book desirable. Sadly, I cannot find any other works he has recorded. Anyone who can produce that silk purse is a magician.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The redeeming quality was the rich, deep whispersync narration that only cost $1.99.

Any additional comments?

I thought I was just being a grouch until I read the reviews on Amazon and found that they were more disappointed than I was. Bless their hearts, they had not heard the audible version. Forty per cent of those one hundred forty-six reviews were one and two stars. I have found that even wretched books get at least a four star rating.
