Take a moment to step into a moment in time that truly did exist for some. This book captures so much of what LOVE AND BASKETBALL really was for a lot of us. The dynamics hitting so close to home that I couldn’t stop listening.

Another Story Well Done

There is a style to Isabel Sterling that pulls me in and jars me at the same time. Her witch books were the same. This isn’t bad because I have now experienced her published books and find myself waiting for the next one. The grating part is the out of control teen and their emotions, and yet, that could be just a reflection of how I was as a teen that truly gets me.
This storyline was well done in the sense that it wasn’t all pink roses and petunias- there were some serious decisions to be made and losses where I thought YA books wouldn’t venture into.
Worth the read/listen.

Entertaining, Infuriating, and Encompassing

The follow up to These Witches Don’t Burn was much better than I thought it would be. The story was engrossing EVEN if I forgot a few times that the main character is a teen and is discovering on the fly the blurred lines between doing the right thing and for whom.
People get to have representation & I’m still a firm believer that literature and captivating stories can all lead to a different tomorrow.

Cheesy, needy, and sometimes just what one is looking for.

The cheesy- sometimes lesbian romance can be formulaic- girl meets girl, incredible and fast connection, uhaul effects, drama, almost resolution, more drama, and happy ending.

The needy-there were some things that occurred in the book that definitely had me ask myself “do we, as lesbians, really do that?”

The just what one needs- one can complain about the above mentioned points, however, the reality is that in today’s questionable climate, it feels good to have everyone in the story win.

Sometimes, this is just a book that is right on time.

When the story has you laugh out loud

As an avid reader/listener of lesbian romance/fiction/mystery/sci-fi etc, I tend to find a lot of books formulaic. However, in this case, I found the story and the narration to be such a perfect fit, that I actually listened to the book back to back.
It’s been a while since I laughed out loud while listening; even found myself occasionally fist bumping the air in solidarity with the main characters.
It’s a wonderful listen! It may be formulaic for others, but it had me laughing in the car all by myself. This is a story and a narrator that I can enjoy again and again.

Genuine to Me

Perhaps Ryan Blair gets people who cannot connect with him and they choose to bash or rate the ready and book with few stars-and they are entitled to their opinions. In my case, I prefer the honesty because my growing up was similar in many ways.

You go on and just continue to do your 'thang!'
