Overall, a bit of a mixed bag for me. 4 stars but really closer to 3, I'll give it the benifit of the doubt though.

Plot wise: This is where the mixed feelings come in. There are some hints at an overarching plot, though I'm troubled a bit by some of the character "development" especially towards the end, not too much but enough that I hope the author can handle it well. The antagonists were a bit too cartoonishly evil, I kept expecting them to be revealed as the somewhat chill android children of Skynet and the Matrix (this has not happened) though they did have moments where they showed emotion. Things definitely improved in the latter half, despite the mixed feelings, 3.5

Narration: Solid if a bit plain in the telling. Clearly understandable, has a bit of character differentiation through the use of voice which is refreshing. 3.5 rounded to 4

Narration wise. I would rate this 3.5 out of 5 rounded to 4 down from 4.5 which feels a bit petty but it keeps bothering me. I will first go with the great. There's a fair bit of character differentiation in the voice acting which I love. I've listened to this twice and it's especially prominent in the beginning. The narrator has a bit of a overly poshy tone to his voice, which makes it a bit hard for me to follow in the first hour or so as it's hard for me to get past.

Story wise. I would give this a 4.5 out of 5 rounded to 4. It's a promising start, I look forward to reading any further books. I like the world painted by the author and the narrator while a little annoying at first does well in complementing the diversity inherent there. Some interesting character development, though it's somewhat stilted. Otherwise it's a bit of a mix of high fantasy and the 9 realms of norse mythology with a slight MCU take.

Overall a 4.

Zed's World Books One and Two

Story wise. I think Book Two was a fair amount better than book one. Book One had all kinds of pacing issues, not to mention the fact it kept skipping around in time + POV which I dislike in a book. The pacing in book two was much better and the POV switches gave you some meat on which to invest in the characters. a 2.5-3 for Book One and a 3.5-4 for Book Two. We'll round to a 4.

Narration wise... I don't like the narrator a whole lot, sounds like he's always out of breath or something? I don't know just not my cup of tea I guess. 2.5 Rounded to 3.

Overall a 3, would be a 4 but Book One holds it back.

Interesting, had a bit of a twist near the end that made things more worth it. Decent enough, though it was a bit predictable. I'm hoping for more with the twist at the end but only time will tell. 3.5 stars. There was one thing I could completely do without and that's the inclusion of quotes which are really bits of the actual chapter being included at the beginning of the chapter.

Narration wise it was ok. The female narrator was average not bad, not great either, 3 stars. The male narrator was the better of the two in my opinion, he tended to give more character to his roles, could have been because he didn't have as many lines but I think he was just generally better 4 stars.

So I'll give this a 3.5 story and a nod as a promising start. I like the premise, especially the hints and bits of story it seems are taking shape. It will be interesting to see how the main character solves his assorted moral quandaries. BUT.. I knocked 1-1.5 stars off as I think this could be TONS better if it were paced out differently. It drags in several places (for instance it takes 4 hours or so before it really starts to get out of what I would consider the prologue).

The narration itself is decent but neither is it the best I've heard between 3-4 varying throughout. If the narrator had done some of the flourishes he did in a couple portions of the story with one of the characters throughout it would I think be closer to a 4.25-4.75 for narration.

Overall about a 3.75 or so rounded to 4. Looking forward to the next book.

I wish there were incremental review options. I'd probably give somewhere between a 4-4.5 for the story and overall.
I disagree with some of the previous reviews. This is Fantasy, though not flashy fantasy with a bunch of magic. It reads more like I guess one of the more accurate descriptions would be A Song of Ice and Fire (but very, very different and not to that level). The character's are well defined, the descriptions short but refreshingly to the point allowing the reader's imagination to do what it should, the same for the world descriptions. There were a few plot points that were obvious though for the most part it was satisfying.

The Narrator is good, I'll probably try and get my hands on some of the other books he's narrated. His portrayal of the main character reminds me of Butler from Nathaniel Parker's rendition of the Artemis Fowl series.
